Four Easy Steps to Evaluate a Courier Service Company

When you're looking out for a good courier service, chances are more that one gives more importance to economical rates and discounts. Yes, the rates are certainly important. But, don’t we have to think beyond the rates too. One needs to get the value for money that is paid.

Step 1 – Know the courier company’s location

Look for a courier service that specializes in your location and makes deliveries to where you need it. It is always better to have the courier company’s location near you as this saves their (and your) time for pick-up and delivery of courier parcels.

Step 2 - Define the service you need

On the very first call let the courier company know the service you need. Like, you may need a scheduled service, where something is picked up and delivered every day at a fixed time. Or you may need on-demand service, which means calling for a pickup on an as-needed basis. Let them know you want to order the courier on internet. Booking online is the best solution in present times. It saves lot of your time.

Step 3 - Define your terms

If you need priority service then let the courier company know that how important the courier delivery is for you. You need to make sure the courier company understands what is exactly urgent and important for you. Also, if the items you want to ship need insurance then check if they provide it?

Step 4 - Do some research

How long has the courier service been in business, what areas does it serve, how many vehicles and drivers does it have, and what services does it offer, with what all courier companies it is partnered with? Check with references. It takes time but, it is worth to do it rather than wasting time and money for the service which you did not expected.

Working with a disability?

Can anyone help my son works as a courier ( dealing with passports and visa's) in London he has been having a few epileptic fits in the last couple of years e.g. Four !!! he has recieved a letter from work advising him that they are concerned that he needs to take his medication as prescribed or in there words "for you to be able to contiinue as a courier which i know you enjoy you are going to have to give the company assurance that you will take all you medication you are given for this condition so not to be a danger to yourself and a third party" Can they do this? what should i do? He is only 22
Thank you i shall go to citizens advise!!!

He doesnt need to use any vechicle to do his job( on the london tube and his own two feet)

Thanks for all your advise a worried mum

Hello.Firstly,I am disgusted that a Government department could have the outright cheek to send him a letter like this.It is absolutely outrageous, and,far worse,it is highly discriminatory. It amounts to nothing more than a thinly disguised 'warning' about the fact they'll sack him should he have a fit at work. The answer to your question "Can they do this?" is yes, they already have.

I strongly urge you to contact the Citizens Advice Bureau and ask them about all aspects of the recent Disability Employment Acts of Parliament. As this firm took him on knowing full well your son had such a medical condition, and also knew the frequency of such attacks, they cannot now turn around and issue such a letter after hiring him. There is no way he can respond to this letter himself as it is biased, narrow-minded and one-sided.Whatever he would write back in response would seal his fate - in other words, this is a letter of entrapment. He's damned if he replies, and damned if he doesn't.This is a cowardly letter, written by a cowardly, spineless and gutless boss.

I strongly urge you to contact CAB without delay to see exactly what your rights and responsibilities actually are. If he belongs to a Trade Union, he should also go to them and ask for their help as well.Either way,if you work from a position of strength, you can face this moron of a boss. Also,I would be inclined to see if the C.A.B. could advise you to sue for damages.

I wish you well. All the best, Alan L.

Highlanders win third state title beating Blazers 55-46
Highlander 55, Bethesda 46 The Bethesda Blazers were desparate to avenge two state title losses to the First Presbyterian Christian Academy Highlanders and kept the score close in the later part of the game. But the Highlanders had something to prove and edged out a 55-46 win Saturday afternoon giving some of the varsity boys their third state ring in a row. It's Highlander coach David Jones ...
