Cars - Complete Greatest Hits List Price: $18.98 Sale Price: $8.88 |

No Description AvailableNo Track Information AvailableMedia Type: CDArtist: CARSTitle: COMPLETE GREATEST HITSStreet Release Date: 02/19/2002 If rock's most successful and memorable acts have usually succeeded by wrapping their own distillation of music history and personal tastes in whatever fashionable trappings are currently gripping the culture, it's hardly surprising that the Cars remain one of the most enduring symbols of the punk/new wave era. This 20-track anthology distills that argument perfectly. Ric Ocasek's songs embody a solid '60s sense of pop craftsmanship informed by a trend-conscious stylistic sheen and a cynical, slippery emotional detachment that's often betrayed by his own distinctly weary brand of romanticism, from the anxious pop of "Just What I Needed" and "You're All I've Got Tonight" to the melancholy-on-ice musings of "Drive" and "Tonight She Comes." Sixteen of the 20 cuts here were chart singles, and radio staples like "Bye Bye Love" and "Dangerous Type" might as well have been. --Jerry McCulley |

Love List Price: $18.98 Sale Price: $6.94 |
|
It begins with a twittering of birdsong lifted from "Across the Universe." And once the triple-tracked a capella harmonies of "Because" enter, followed by snatches from "A Hard Day's Night" and "The End," leading into a fired-up "Get Back," it becomes obvious that this is far more than just another Beatles compilation. This is Love, conceived by the Fabs' former producer George Martin and son Giles as a stageshow soundtrack to Cirque de Soleil's Las Vegas spectacular of the same name, but appears to have taken on a life of its own. Whereas the Beatles' last release, 1, delivered the (over?) familiar hits in a nice, simple package, Love is a mélange of the familiar and obscure, all literally mixed together in one 78-minute audio collage which succeeds in reminding the listener just why the Beatles truly are, as Lennon put it, "toppermost of the poppermost." There's no new Beatles material per se, but the songs are all approached differently--some are cut together in a flawlessly mixed medley (check out "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!/I Want You/Helter Skelter"), some reassemble different backing tracks and vocal performances to create new spins on old classics; but all the songs are revitalized considerably. Even in its weakest moments (which probably work better in the context of the show itself), Love is still a formidable prospect, and one has to admire Martin's willingness to go out on a limb with such a project. While purists may complain that the cut 'n' paste nature of the project is simply tampering with perfection, at the very least it'll make them reach for the originals and enjoy them all over again. For newcomers and everyone else, it makes a fine listen, both in its sonic clarity (the actual tracks are the best they've sounded on CD) and audacious nature. --Thom Allott More from the Fab Four The Capitol Albums, Vol. 2 Revolver Sgt. Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded List Price: $13.98 Sale Price: $6.93 |
|
There's a cool new development in summer singles: they no longer need to be sunny. In fact, the wetter the better. "Umbrella," the first single off Rihanna's ragingly good third album, may be her strongest ditty yet, and that's saying something considering her run of past summer chartbusters. More stylish than "S.O.S." (from A Girl Like Me) and more interesting than "Pon de Replay" (from Music of the Sun), "Umbrella" barrels forward with big, brawny drums and a hot but haunted-sounding vocal. From there, the upbeat numbers chug forth like chilled pina colada mix into a blender: "Breakin' Dishes" trades skillfully on a recent vogue for man-directed venom, and "Shut Up and Drive" borrows "S.O.S."-style from the '80s New Order song "Blue Monday." Both are irresistible. So, too, are a couple of late tracks. "Rehab" and "Lemme Get That," both produced by Timbaland, prove that being an island girl is no barrier to holding one's own amid a sizzling stew of urban beats. In fact, it's a boon--one that'll register with pop music fans instantly. -Tammy La Gorce All products are BRAND NEW and factory sealed. Fast shipping and 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed. |

Tron: Legacy (Four-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy) List Price: $49.99 Sale Price: $26.95 |
|
The luminescent lines and shimmering surfaces of Tron: Legacy will tantalize anyone who's lusted after the latest smartphone. The long-ago disappearance of his computer-genius father has left Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund, Four Brothers) with existential ennui and a lot of money. When he discovers his father's secret workshop, he gets sucked into a computerized realm ruled by a megalomaniac computer program named Clu--who just happens to be his father's virtual doppelganger. To find his real father (Jeff Bridges, reprising his role from the original Tron, with a bit of his role from The Big Lebowski thrown in for kicks), Sam has to fight in gladiatorial games, drive in digital demolition derbies, and be stripped and dressed by slinky pneumatic babes. For all the techno-babble and quasi-philosophy the characters spout, this is a movie without an idea in its shiny head. It would be pointless to describe the many sillinesses because Tron: Legacy isn't actually trying to be smart; it's trying to look cool. It succeeds. Olivia Wilde (House) looks like the coolest action figure ever (if the entire movie could be nothing but the shot of her lounging on a futuristic sofa, it would be a masterpiece of avant-garde gizmo-fetishism). The facemasks are cool, the glowing skintight outfits are cool, the light-cycles are really, really cool--and let's be honest, it's all about the light-cycles. That's what the audience for Tron wants, and that's what Tron: Legacy delivers. --Bret Fetzer Versions of Tron: Legacy on Blu-ray and DVD Tron: Legacy DVD Tron: Legacy (Two-Disc Combo) Tron: Legacy (Four-Disc Combo) Tron: Legacy / Tron The Original Classic (Five-Disc Combo) Tron: Legacy / Tron: The Original Classic (Five-Disc Combo in Identity Disc Collectible Packaging) Release Date April 5, 2011 April 5, 2011 April 5, 2011 April 5, 2011 April 5, 2011 Format/Disc # DVD Blu-ray, DVD Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Copy Tron: Legacy includes: Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Copy Tron: The Original Classics includes: Blu-ray Tron: Legacy includes: Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Copy Tron: The Original Classics includes: Blu-ray Tron: Legacy Blu-ray 3D No No Yes Yes Yes Tron: The Original Classic No No No Yes Yes Digital Copy No No Yes Yes Yes Collectable Lithograph No No No No Yes Bonus Content First look at Tron: Uprising, the Disney XD animated series; Visualizing Tron: Watch how the filmmakers brought the astonishing world inside the Grid to life; Installing the cast: Stars discuss their Tron experience Same as Tron: Legacy DVD The Next Day: Flynn Lives Revealed: What happens immediately following the end of the movie?; Launching the Legacy: Beyond the amazing visuals is a rich story filled with an entire world's history and mythology; Disc Roars: Watch director Joseph Kosinski use the raucous crowd at Comic-Con to record actual ADR for the disc game stadium crowd; Music video: “Derezzed” written, produced, and performed by Daft Punk Same as Tron: Legacy DVD Same as Tron: Legacy (Two-Disc Combo) Same as Tron: Legacy DVD Same as Tron: Legacy (Two-Disc Combo) Same as Tron: Legacy DVD Same as Tron: Legacy (Two-Disc Combo) Limited edition identity disc packaging Tron: The Original Classic Bonus Content None None None Exclusive photo Tronology; The Tron phenomenon; The making of Tron; Deleted scenes: with introductions by Bruce Boxleitner; Audio commentary:Steven Lisberger, Donald Kushner, Harrison Ellenshaw and Richard Taylor; Production gallery; Storyboards: showcasing early work on Light Cycles; Storyboard-To-Film comparisons Exclusive photo Tronology; The Tron phenomenon; The making of Tron; Deleted scenes: with introductions by Bruce Boxleitner; Audio commentary:Steven Lisberger, Donald Kushner, Harrison Ellenshaw and Richard Taylor; Production gallery; Storyboards: showcasing early work on Light Cycles; Storyboard-To-Film comparisons Disney presents a high-tech motion picture unlike anything you've ever seen in an astonishing 3D Combo Pack. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 List Price: $19.94 Sale Price: $9.46 |
|
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I is a brooding, slower-paced film than its predecessors, the result of being just one half of the final story (the last book in the series was split into two movies, released in theaters eight months apart). Because the penultimate film is all buildup before the final showdown between the teen wizard and the evil Voldemort (which does not occur until The Deathly Hallows, Part II), Part I is a road-trip movie, a heist film, a lot of exposition, and more weight on its three young leads, who up until now were sufficiently supported by a revolving door of British thesps throughout the series. Now that all the action takes place outside Hogwarts--no more Potions classes, Gryffindor scarves, or Quidditch matches--Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Emma Watson (Hermione), and Rupert Grint (Ron) shoulder the film almost entirely on their own. After a near-fatal ambush by Voldemort's Death Eaters, the three embark on a quest to find and destroy the remaining five horcruxes (objects that store pieces of Voldemort's soul). Fortunately, as the story gets more grave--and parents should be warned, there are some scenes too frightening or adult for young children--so does the intensity. David Yates, who directed the Harry Potter films Order of the Phoenix and The Half-Blood Prince, drags the second half a little, but right along with some of the slower moments are some touching surprises (Harry leading Hermione in a dance, the return of Dobby in a totally non-annoying way). Deathly Hallows, Part I will be the most confusing for those not familiar with the Potter lore, particularly in the shorthand way characters and terminology weave in and out. For the rest of us, though, watching these characters over the last decade and saying farewell to a few faces makes it all bittersweet that the end is near (indeed, an early scene in which Hermione casts a spell that makes her Muggle parents forget her existence, in case she doesn't return, is particularly emotional). Despite its challenges, Deathly Hallows, Part I succeeds in what it's most meant to do: whet your appetite for the grand conclusion to the Harry Potter series. --Ellen A. Kim Harry, Ron and Hermione set out on their perilous mission to track down and destroy the secret to Voldemort’s immortality and destruction – the Horcruxes. On their own and on the run, the three friends must now rely on one another more than ever…but Dark Forces in their midst threaten to tear them apart. Meanwhile the wizarding world has become a dangerous place. The long-feared war has begun and the Dark Lord has seized control of the Ministry of Magic and even Hogwarts, terrorizing and arresting all who might oppose him. The Chosen One has become the hunted one as the Death Eaters search for Harry with orders to bring him to Voldemort…alive.Product Measures: 0.5 x 5.5 x 7.5 |

The Outsiders List Price: $5.97 Sale Price: $3.09 |

Director Francis Coppola's adaptation of the popular S.E. Hinton novel about the price of rebellious youth is notable chiefly for the stunning cast of young actors who went on to rich and varied careers. In supporting roles, the film features the likes of Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Diane Lane, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, and Tom Waits, among others. The story centers on two rival gangs in the early 1960s Midwest, and the violent turf wars that escalate and tragically claim young lives. C. Thomas Howell plays the central character who yearns to prove himself and be accepted by his older brothers' gang, while at the same time finding his first love and dreaming of a life beyond his dead end existence. Geared toward the teenage crowd, the film nonetheless features some fine direction from Coppola in a story that evokes memories of the classic coming-of-age films of the 1950s. --Robert Lane Beautiful and exciting adaptation of S.E. Hinton's classic tale of gangs and growing up in Oklahoma. Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, Diane Lane, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio, C. Thomas Howell and Emilio Estevez head the dynamic cast of rising stars; with Leif Garrett, Sofia Coppola. Francis Coppola directs. 91 min. Standard and Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital Surround stereo; Subtitles: English, French; theatrical trailer. |

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (Widescreen Edition) List Price: $14.99 Sale Price: $6.94 |
|
The sequel to the animated movie Madagascar gives more of everything audiences loved in the first movie: More of the penguins; more of Julian, king of the lemurs; more musical bits of classic rock; and many, many more lions, zebras, hippos, and giraffes. In the first film, a quartet of coddled zoo animals found themselves shipwrecked on the island of Madagascar in a misguided effort to return them to the wild. InMadagascar: Escape 2 Africa, a failed attempt to fly back to New York maroons Alex the lion (voiced by Ben Stiller), Marty the zebra (Chris Rock), Gloria the hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Melman the giraffe (David Schwimmer) in an animal preserve on the African continent, accompanied by the four deranged penguins and the lunatic lemur king (deliriously voiced by Sacha Baron Cohen, Borat). By wild coincidence, this is where Alex was born--and where his father is still the alpha lion, and where his malevolent uncle seeks to take over (let's call this an homage to The Lion King). The other beasts have their own story arcs, but really it's all an excuse for daffy comic bits. Though the result is disposable, it's also entirely entertaining. The action sequences pop with dizzying spectacle; though some jokes are mainstream fodder, more often they're surprisingly quirky and engagingly oddball. This is the best kind of cotton candy filmmaking--it dissolves into nothing, but it's oh-so-sweet to the taste. --Bret Fetzer Features include: •MPAA Rating: PG•Format: DVD•Runtime: 89 minutes |

Test Drive Cars, Get Stuff Free
Who said there's no such thing as a free lunch? The truth is, there are still some places in this world where you can get truly free stuff, without working hard or paying anything.
One of these sources of free items is test drive offers. Did you know that you could go into a car dealership, test drive a car, and they would mail you something free? Everything from a steak dinner for two to a $100 gift certificate to an upscale kitchen supply store.
And yes, it would be totally free, costing you only a little amount of your time. Heck, sometimes you wouldn't even have to test drive the car!
Sound too good to be true? Well, test drive offers really exist, but they do take a little leg work before you get started.
For instance, you cannot simply go into a car dealership at random and announce, "I'm here for the goodies! What are you going to give me today?" Test drive offers must be sent to you in the mail.
Once you are placed on the appropriate mailing list for the various auto manufacturers that offer test drive incentives, it is just a matter of checking you email or snail mail box to find the offers. Then, with offer in hand, you visit the car dealership that is participating in the offer.
At the dealership, make sure to announce that you are not going to be purchasing a vehicle today, but got the offer in the mail and decided to check it out. This way the dealer assigned to you does not waste an undo amount of his time on you as a hot prospect, but is still available to answer questions you may have about the vehicle in question.
Most of the time, with this approach, the dealer will ask you if you really want to drive the car, and will not take up your time, or his, if you do not. After the test drive, or lack thereof, the dealer will sign your incentive which you will then mail into the company.
In six to eight weeks, the company will either mail or email you your reward. The value of these rewards vary, but on average they are around $50 each. Occasionally, they are as high as $100, or as low as $25.
Over the years, I have gotten thousands of dollars worth of freebies from these offers. Countless prepaid American Express or VISA/MasterCard gift cards, several gift certificates to various merchants, and all kinds of interesting incentives like movie cash and dinners at local restaurants.
I like doing test drive incentives. They are a fun, occasional hobby. Sometimes I save up my rewards and use them for gifts for my extended family.
We regularly buy new vehicles, and I always return to the dealers who treated me well when I had an incentive in my hand, as opposed to those who felt that I was a waste of their time. This is what the companies intend when they put out these incentives; I am more than happy to oblige them.

Is it okay for people to test drive cars they are only just browsing?
I'm always interested in trying out new cars but am not considering buying one yet. I'm not even talking about test driving a few to see which one I should buy but just plain test drive them and then walk away with an experience. Would this be something that car dealerships are ok with?
Why would you waste a salesman's time and energy?? They literally 'eat what they sell', and every minute you are keeping them off the lot, you are wasting their money making time.

I drive a Lexus RX330. Whenever I step on the accelerator to pick up speed, there will be a ringing sound coming from the bottom of the vehicle. This sound remains if i am on cruising at about 90 to 100kmh. I would like to know the potential causes. Thanks.
Thanks for visiting!
