Open nature of LTO ultrium format makes it the industry-leading backup technology. LTO tape technology is the data managers' top choice that addresses the exploding storage needs at an economical cost.
IBM media storage devices are built tough for superior cost efficiency, and offer the ideal combination of flexibility, performance and durability. IBM utilized its rigorous engineering and vast technical experience to develop the new advanced TS3100 tape library. It is a smart choice for IBM Power Systems, tape automation, open systems and high demanding environments. IBM TS3100 library features highly reliable store management applications which have been introduced to efficiently fulfill the data protection, performance, reliability, capacity, affordability and investment protection requirements.
Good news is that the IBM TS3100 tape library supports the newest LTO-5 tape generation. It offers you more flexibility and allows you to easily increase your storage capacity by installing up to two IBM LTO-5 half-height drives or one IBM LTO-5 full-height drive. The most compelling feature is the remote library management, which allows you to control backup operations with the help of standard web interface.
IBM TS3100 library is well-suited for small and mid-range environments. It supports two half-height or one full-height tape drive along with capacity of 24 tape cartridges. IBM TS3100 library assures investment protection, because it does not only support the LTO-5 tape generation but it is also compatible with LTO-4 and LTO-3 tape generations. Both full-height and half-height LTO-4 drives are supported by IBM TS3100 tape library, and you can use only the half-height LTO-3 tape drives. Therefore the IBM TS3100 library enables you to handle the increasing storage demands in a cost effective manner.
IBM TS3100 library features 2 removable cartridge magazines. Each cartridge magazine has slots for 12 tape cartridges. These cartridge magazines are located on the left and right side of the tape library. In addition to this, a single mail slot has been included in the left cartridge magazine, which allows you to import and export the media during library operations to assure unmatched performance and improved efficiency. The barcode reader further supports the archival and backup operations in random/sequential access mode.
For improved media compatibility, IBM has introduced 6 GB/s SAS and 8 GB/s fibre channel interfaces for LTO-5 ultrium drives. On the other hand for the LTO-4 ultrium drives, IBM TS3100 tape library offers 4 GB/s, 3 GB/s SAS and LVD SCSI interfaces. These interfaces allow you to connect the tape library to a broad range of open-system servers. It is the best solution for the increasing backup needs.

SLR-MLR Data tapes
The Scalable Linear Recording (SLR)/ Multi-Channel Linear Recording (MLR) tape is an efficient magnetic data tape. The SLR is a perfect and ideal tape format for professional environment. The newest SLR tape SLR140 was released in the start of 21st century. The SLR-MLR tape is originally based on the Quarter Inch Cartridge (QIC) tape technology. All The major Brands like Sony, Imation, IBM and others produced SLR-MLR tapes from the time it was introduced. The SLR-MLR tapes Sony SLR58GB, Imation 16891, IBM 35L0968 are used extensively at the industrial level because of their high storage capacities and unmatchable performance.
The Scalable Linear Recording (SLR) tape utilizes a number of new technologies to provide extra data protection features to its users. The cartridge records the data on the tape media using Linear Recording technology. This method of recording is popular among many other tape cartridges as well. The cartridge reduces the tape stress that ensures the data integrity. The SLR technology allows the new generation drives to be compatible with the past generation tape medias both in reading and writing. The best Quality SLR-MLR tapes are available at www.tape4backup.com
The SLR Cartridge has built-in Shock Protection System which ensures that the data written on the tape is accurate. The Scalable Linear Recording (SLR) was developed by Imation and Tandberg Data in partnership to meet the needs of the fast growing medium and small sized businesses. The Advanced Fault Tolerance in the SLR media enables the cartridge to record the data on the alternative tracks. The cartridge has read-while-write capability that reduced the back up time up to half. The six-channel head of SLR cartridge writes data in four tracks simultaneously. The tape utilizes In-Line compression for one hundred percent data buffer usage. Tape4backup.com provides the most efficient SLR-MLR tapes at the cheapest price.
The Auto Sensor in the SLR-MLR cartridge automatically adjusts the data transfer speed. This increases the performance and durability. The SLR tape combines the Automated Tape Library System which improves the speed and efficiency of the tape. The high speed SLR tapes are recognized by the big industries because of its efficiency and performance. This makes the SLR technology a trustable platform with voluminous systems. You can easily avail the premium quality SLR-MLR tapes with lifetime warranty from www.tape4backup.com
Having great storage capacity, the Scalable Linear Recording tape can store 70GB (gigabytes) of data (native). The SLR tapes can also store 140GB (gigabytes) of data in compressed mode. The SLR tape transfers the data at high speed of 6 MB/s. The tape can also transfer the data at a speed of 12 MB/s (megabytes per Second) in compressed mode. The SLR tapes come in 560m length.
The SLR-MLR tapes are preferably used by small and large computer networks as these tapes have incomparable speed and reliability. The SLR-MLR tapes are compatible with all the known operating systems including Windows (98, 2000, XP), LINUX, UNIX and many others.
