Should You Rent or Buy a Storage Unit
There are many reasons why a person or family might want to consider using a storage unit. Free space is often a major factor since some large families live in very tight quarters making it hard for everyone to keep all of their unused personal items nearby. In other situations a family or individual might get tired of having seasonal household items, clothing, or sports supplies lying around taking up space all year long. Regardless of the reasons considering a storage unit is often the first step in the right direction.
After deciding to get a storage unit many people find themselves wondering how they should pay for one. There are many businesses in most towns that let residents rent storage units on a monthly or even yearly basis. This might seem like the perfect solution to some that are planning to store only a few items or who have moving help for large ones, but for others who are planning to place many items in storage monthly rental might seem like a bad idea.
Renting a storage unit for a large amount of property can get extremely expensive. Most facilities base their monthly rental rates on the size of the unit being rented. A family that needs to store many rooms of property can find themselves easily spending a couple of hundred dollars each month on storage. Not only will the family be spending a large amount of money each month for storage, they might not be able to gain access to their property when they need too.
Many rental facilities that rent storage units to the public restrict access for safety reasons. Some storage facilities only let clients access their units during normal business hours when workers can monitor the activity on the property using video surveillance. This means that if a family member or individual realizes something very important has accidentally ended up in storage they have to wait until the business opens up to retrieve it. For families or individuals with a lot of property to store buying a storage unit might be the best option.
Buying a storage unit usually means that a company will bring a storage unit to your home after you have placed an order. This unit is constructed in whatever location you desire and can then be used by you and your family to store your belongings. In some cases the storage unit can be attached to a moving vehicle for fast, easy, location changes. Buying a storage unit can initially be more expensive than renting a storage unit since it requires a larger upfront investment. When renting a storage unit all that is needed is a deposit and the first month’s storage fee. Purchasing a storage unit can easily cost more than $800 which has to be paid before the unit is installed on the property.
The initial investment is worth it to many individuals who desperately need a storage unit for their home. Buying a storage unit and having it placed on private property helps remove clutter from the house and makes the removal convenient for everyone involved. Since the storage unit is on the property it is easy for a family member or individual using the storage unit to begin moving items from the house and into the unit whenever it is convenient for them. They also have the option of removing any item from storage that they want to at anytime. As an added bonus many storage units available for sale are large enough to accommodate bigger families and will help them avoid paying a high monthly fee for storage.
On the other hand, smaller families or individuals with only a few items to store might consider paying upfront for a large storage unit to be wasteful. If you are someone that only needs to store a few items or only wants to store items for a short period of time then purchasing a storage unit would be a waste of your time. Instead concentrate on renting a storage unit and, if you have an idea of how long you will need to rent, try to make some sort of arrangement for paying a few months in advance in return for a discount.
Whether you decide to purchase a storage unit or rent one taking advantage of the convenience of storage units is a good idea. Investing in a storage unit will help you get some room to breath in your own home while helping you organize and keep important belongings from your past.

is it possible to convert window a/c unit into a split system unit?
I am interested in taking apart a window a/c unit and converting it into a split system unit. I would have to elongate the refrigerant lines between the 2 halves. Would this work?
I get where you are coming from. You want a split system and lose the unit hanging out the window. Then you found out how much a mini split system will cost.
You know anything is possible, but to what extent. Also you would need to calculate and design in a engineers capacity. This would be a lot bigger rebuild than it will be worth. Then you are limited to the capacity of the main components. As well as they are not new and may fail with no warrantee. Sorry I say Bad Idea. I doubt you will save very much either.
