Evolution of Maruti Suzuki Swift
In the present, Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the fastest growing cars in the Indian car market. Since its inception in the country, the car has won various awards, appreciation, and accolades from across the global car industry. It is also known to break the records of the Indian automotive heritage by becoming the first Indian Car of the Year. Swift has also acquired many other awards for its excellence in all aspects. Some of the most renowned awards include Best Value for Money Cars by CNBC Autocar, Design Car of the Year by BBC Top Gear, Small Car of the Year by NDTV Profit, No. 1 in Initial Quality Study by J.D.Power, Total Customer Satisfaction by TNS Study, and the list goes on.
Fondly, the Swift was introduced at a period when customers were actually not satisfied with the premium hatchbacks present in the Indian car industry. Maruti took the advantage and rolled out its most fascinating hatchback, Maruti Suzuki Swift, with advanced and innovative car features including advanced car safety technologies.
The radical innovation of Swift dates back to 1999 when Suzuki had introduced a motorcycle christened as Hayabusa, the world’s fastest superbike, with a 1.3L DOHC engine with unbeatable power and performance. This was then conceptualized to a car, GSX-R/4, that took the engine of the Suzuki’s motorcycle. Powered with the same DOHC engine the car was unleashed onto roads in 2001.
Thereafter, this car was transformed into another concept known as Concept S. In the year 2004, a new, highly technological and rally inspired car was unveiled at Paris Auto Show. The technology then moved further to concept S-2 an open-top convertible that introduced an era of new driving experience in 2003.
Finally, concept S-2 was transformed to introduce the present day Swift with bigger and greater potential. It was introduced with European standards as their benchmarks coupled with an advanced chassis, transmission, and suspension system. It was designed by a team of 21 Indian designers and engineers who carefully analyzed and studied the dimensions, designs, qualities, style, and performance of the concept S-2 car and created a new path to roll out a ground breaking hatchback.
After several months of efforts and challenges, they introduced a smiling Swift to sparkle the Indian car industry. The car market welcomed the scintillating Swift in 2004 but even further innovations and evolution was in continuation. Maruti moved a step ahead and evolved a new revolutionary Swift diesel that has also created its own benchmark.
Swift has definitely rolled out on roads but advancements and innovations will always move in pace with the time span to accommodate new, better, and functional features in the Swift.
With the launch of Swift in the Indian car market, Maruti Suzuki has reaffirmed its stature as market leaders in the compact car segment.
