The original Yesterday and Today album cover issued in the United States in June 1966 featured a color photo taken by Robert Whitaker of the group dressed in white butcher smocks and draped in pieces of raw meat and the parts of several dismembered dolls. This controversial album design soon became known as "The Butcher Cover"
Upon it's release the Yesterday and Today cover shocked most most radio station dj's, record reviewers and store owners and was immediately recalled. John Lennon once stated that "....it was inspired by boredom and resentment at having to do another photo session and Beatle thing".
Oddly enough, that photo had not been intended to be used as an album cover at all when it was taken, but in fact was part of a collection of shots that comprised a photo series titled the "Somnambulant Adventure". The series was never published.
THIS IS AN INVESTMENT GRADE COVER

Cracker - Series 2

2003 - Granada / HBO Video - CRACKER : Series 2 - (1998) - 3 Disc DVD Set - Disc 1: To Be A Somebody / Disc 2: The Big Crunch / Disc 3: Men Should Weep - Run Time: 468 Minutes - Color - Aspect Ratio: 4:3 - New - Mint in Package - Limited Edition - Collectible
Cracker: Series 1 was fine--a terrific premiere and two interesting sequels introduced freelance police psychologist Eddie "Fitz" Fitzgerald (Robbie Coltrane) and his family and colleaguesbut series 2 is unexpectedly and vastly superior. The three miniseries included on these discs are exemplary thrillers (even better than the first trio), but the real leap forward is in the stories' deepening complexity and fascinating intertwining of Fitz's strained relationships and work. "To Be a Somebody" begins where series 1 left off. Fitz and his wife, Judith (Barbara Flynn), and two kids are living together again, but the rotund profiler--still juggling multiple addictions to booze, gambling, nicotine, and overall self-destructiveness--is on a new, downward spiral. His name is also mud with Detective Chief Inspector Bilborough (Christopher Eccleston) and would-be lover and police detective Jane "Panhandle" Penhaligon (Geraldine Somerville). But a series of class-anger killings by a psychotic welder-turned-skinhead pulls Fitz into a case so disastrous that every major and minor character is profoundly affected. Portraying the murderer, Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting) is brilliant, as terrifying and sympathetic as Taxi Driver's Travis Bickle. The emotional and dramatic fallout of "To Be Somebody" carries over to "The Big Crunch," in which Fitz's relationship with Jane intensifies while he pursues a religious cult that may be responsible for a girl's abduction. The final story, "Men Should Weep," concerns an investigation into an unnerving string of rapes by a masked, mutilated cab driver. More startling is a link between these crimes and eruptive events in the lives of Fitz, Judith, Jane, and thickheaded, thorn-in-the-side copper Jimmy Beck (Lorcan Cranitch). A breathtaking climax and shocking, cliffhanger ending make "Men Should Weep" a must-see for thriller fans. --Tom Keogh

DC Comics Death of Superman #75

Do You Remember Where You Were The Day Superman Died?
Superman #75 Black Bag November 18, 1992. The day Superman #75 was finally released. Over the course of the next few days' people who had never even dreamt of walking into a comic store were standing in line waiting to buy their copy. On Friday November 20 eighty people were standing outside of Cap's Comic Cavalcade in Allentown, Pennsylvania before the store opened. Dan Walter, owner of Cap's had ordered more than three thousand copies of the comic, which was about 100 times the normal amount he usually ordered. Fans who didn't normally collect the book scrambled for a copy. It was a genuine media event and what seemed like the whole world was getting involved, even Saturday Night Live, which put on a skit featuring the funeral of Superman.
So how was the comic itself?
Pretty big actually. The book came encased in a sealed black bag with a bleeding red S on the front. It was eye catching and for many buyers all they got to see as the prevailing wisdom at the time was that the book would be worth more if it was never opened.
If the buyer actually wanted to "take the chance" and open the bag they were confronted with a cover made up to look like a tombstone. Inside were thirty-two splash pages showing Superman and Doomsday going at it. The battle was violent and no holds barred. Finally the two came at each other for one final onslaught. The last pages featured a gatefold showing Superman dying in Lois' arms.

On Sealing Your Stone Countertops
One of the marble countertops and granite countertops maintenance tips is to let them undergo stone sealing to ensure their longevity and their great appearance. Though granite and marble can use some stone sealing, the sealing process itself is not really that necessary, and with proper care of the stones, one can expect them to last for ages without sealing.
Â
But what does sealing do? Stone sealing protects stone surfaces and also forms a protective layer on the stones to prevent moisture and any other contaminant from penetrating the stone and cause damage to it. This is because stone naturally has pores, and water and acids can seep through those pores and damage the stones’ color and structural integrity. That means, granite countertop and marble countertop sealing makes it harder for stains to form, and for water to weaken the stones’ durability and toughness.
Â
But as mentioned earlier, stone sealing can be forgone and not done at all. This is because marble and granite are naturally tough. Care and maintenance of these stones is not that hard to do, especially for granite kitchen countertops. All you need to do is clean the surfaces regularly with warm water and mild soap or detergent, and these stones will be as fine as day. These stones by nature are long-lasting and durable.
Â
But is sealing really useless? Not really. As said earlier, sealing affords some protection to the stone, so you’re basically making tough stone slabs tougher, and thus ensure more that they are going to last longer. Aside from that, part of the reasons why stone is sealed is for peace of mind; when one knows that the stone slabs are sealed, one can be assured that their appearance is preserved and your investment is protected. It can also make for easier maintenance of your stone countertops as sealing ensures that stains are kept out and can easily be removed from the stone surfaces.
Â
The final question is, should you seal, or not seal? Sealing is good for your stones, but it is not a requirement. Keeping your stone countertops, like granite worktops, in mint condition just requires diligent cleaning on your part. But that doesn’t mean that the stones couldn’t use some sealing. If you have the financial resources for it, then sealing the stones regularly is a good way to ensure that the stone slabs are going to last longer.

can i take sealed bags of sweets/mints in my hand luggage through airport security?
yes you can. i fly quite frequently and as long as what you intend to carry-on is not a liquid, or is not in a package that conceals the item, the security at the gate will let you through with it.
'Flatlander' recipe gives boost to local baked beans
Louise Andrews Kent, the late, great cookbook author, once wrote that Vermonters have been arguing about the proper recipe for baked beans since the first settlers arrived in their oxcarts.
