When folk think of NY City, one of the first thoughts they have, after the famous buildings, is Broadway.
There are thirty-nine professional theatres that you are going to find essentially on Broadway or near Broadway in new york town. Famous names, for example the Winter Garden, the Shubert, the Palace, the New Amsterdam, the Majestic and the Lyceum as just a few the great houses where today's exciting Broadway plays and musicals are presented to the public.
Musicals aren't to be missed as a vibrant part of NYC nightlife in Manhattan. Old favorites like Chicago, Grease, gypsy, blokes and Dolls, South Pacific and Pal Joey can be enjoyed, as can new material such as Spamalot, Hairspray and evil. Straight plays also abound on Broadway.
Avenue Q was inspired from the TV show Sesame Street, yet it offers an adult-themed play.
There's a vibe in these old houses of times past, when folks flocked to the theatres to see the most recent plays, and that aura continues today. Folk get dressed to the nines to visit the theatre, and there is a spirit of camraderie and bon vivant as the fans settles in together as a group to participate in the experiences the show offers. Some of the theatres,eg the Winter Garden, are vintage homes. This is one of the hotspots on Broadway and in town where you can be in the thick of NYC nightlife, now let's look at the BARS

Vintage Toy/Projector????
My mother, born in the 1960's talks about a toy that she used to have as a child. It was some sort of projector/slide show thing, it would play a song and have slides that went with it, or something to that effect. Every time she hears the song "Long Black Veil" she is reminded of that toy. If possible, I would like to find out what the name of it was, so that I can possibly track one down for her. If anyone has any idea what Im talking about and can give me more information, I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
Startwinkle.........that sounds very similar to her description of it........do you know the name of that toy???
There used to be a toy that looked like a tv that played a record on top and a slide show type thing through the tv.......but that was in the late 70's, early 80's. Not sure what she is talking about. Try looking on E-bay for antique toys and see if anything looks similar.
