How do you separate this release from the rest in the posthumous Tupac cottage industry? Quite easily, actually. Resurrection is the soundtrack to the movie of the same name, so it does not feature slapped together re-mixes with producers that flaunt below-average beat portfolios. The album does have its share of sketchy moments, starting with the five-second "Intro," which has Tupac mumbling "…now this is the next level with this new album." The idea of stitching together castaway Tupac vocal snippets is nothing new to his estate, and this collection contains four previously unreleased tracks, two amply re-tooled by Eminem ("Ghost," "One Day at a Time") and the other two being duets with Notorious B.I.G. ("Runnin'") and thug du jour 50 Cent ("The Realest Killaz"). Where this compilation differs from the rest, however, is that it culls together music from different stages of Tupac's development, from his pubescent days accessorizing Digital Underground's funk-fuelled sound ("Same Song") to the days where his persecution complex set in ("Starin' Through My Rear View"). Resurrection is executive produced by his mother Afeni, so the motivation behind it is legitimate--for those still skeptical about the modern day Tupac cash grab. --Dalton Higgins

The Secret World of Arrietty is a remake of the magical fairy tale The Borrowers, as seen through the keen, imaginative eye of Japanese writer Hayao Miyazaki. The American version of this delicately, richly animated film is that rarest of children's movies--one that is a deeply engaging experience for adults as well. The visuals and graphics are gasp-inducing, yet never over the top or too showy. And the actors dubbing Arrietty in English, including standouts Amy Poehler, Will Arnett, and Carol Burnett, are expressive and emotive. The Secret World of Arrietty tells the tale of a small family of "borrowers," tiny people who live underneath the homes of the "beans" (human beings). The borrowers must stealthily gather small bits of items they need--a sugar cube, a sheet of tissue, biscuits--from the upstairs without being discovered by the beans. Arrietty is a plucky teenager (voice by Bridgit Mendler) whose parents (Poehler and Arnett) think she's ready for her first "borrowing" excursion. But meanwhile, a young "bean" named Shawn has moved into the house above them, to rest and prepare for a heart operation, and to be cared for by the flighty Hara (Burnett). Shawn thinks he might have seen… something… moving in the meadow where he rests and reads. It's not giving away too much to say that Arrietty and Shawn brush against each other's lives--and neither's is the same afterward. For any fans of Miyazaki's other films, and anyone of any age seeking immersive family-friendly entertainment that's life-affirming, The Secret World of Arrietty is a winning experience. --A.T. Goku is still missing in action after the destruction of the planet Namek, as the fourth season of Dragon Ball Z opens. With Goku unavailable, Gohan and the other Z-fighters must defeat Garlic Jr., who has reemerged from the Dead Zone with his accomplices, the Spice Boys. Gohan saves the Earth by ramping up his powers and destroying the planet Makyo, the source of Garlic's strength. Before the dust can settle a new menace arrives: A largely robotic version of Frieza and his more powerful father, King Cold. These villains are easily dispatched by a new Super Saiyan: Trunks, the illegitimate son of Vegeta and Bulma. Trunks has come from the future to save Goku from what would have been a fatal heart virus. Goku must live to prevent the Artificial Humans created by Dr. Gero from ravaging the Earth. (Gero was one of the leaders of the Red Ribbon Army, which Goku destroyed in Dragon Ball.) But Trunks' mission may have altered the future in ways he didn't intend: Instead of two Androids, there are three, all programmed to kill Goku. The season ends on a cliffhanger, with the fate of the Z-Fighters--and the Earth--hanging in the balance. Trunks' visit creates a number of paradoxes, including the problem of his existing as an adult and an infant in the same space-time. However, these questions are unlikely to trouble Dragon Ball fans, who will be too busy watching Vegeta training at 450 gravities, Gohan mastering his latent powers, Goku's new combat move, and any number of battles, not to mention the comic relief of Krillin's courtship of Maron and Master Roshi's continued lechery.
