One of the great talents of her or anyone else's generation gets the royal treatment with this superb two-hour (with bonus material) documentary. It's all here (via interviews, including conversations past and present with Mitchell herself, photos, generous helpings of concert footage, and more): her Saskatchewan childhood, her lovers, her painting, her reunion with the daughter she had left behind at age 19... and, of course, her music, the songs, recordings, and performances, so intensely personal yet so universally accessible, that comprise one of the most extraordinarily original and significant (if not always wildly popular) bodies of work any artist has ever produced. Even true fanatics are likely to find revelations here; the rest of us can simply rejoice in the life and artistry of Joni Mitchell. The extras are highlighted by complete concert readings of four songs, including "Big Yellow Taxi" and "Woodstock." --Sam Graham
This intimate portrait of singer-songwriter-artist Joni Mitchell originally appeared as part of the PBS "American Masters" series. All facets of Mitchell's career are covered, including her early life and influences in Canada, '60s breakthroughs with "Woodstock" and "Big Yellow Taxi," various romances, musical forays into jazz, and her 1990s reunion with the daughter she gave up decades earlier. 120 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital stereo, DTS 5.1; interview; photo gallery; discography; bonus songs.

Which of the electric steam iron and the personal computer consumes more electricity?
Which of the electric steam iron and the personal computer consumes more electricity, -being used for the same amount of time-.
Let's think about this for a minute....
- An iron can range in energy use from off to low to medium to high.
- Most PCs have power supplies that have maximum wattage of 250 watts (base model) to 850 watts for the computer that is decked out with overclocked processors and a really good graphics card (or two).
- Electrical products that heat up consume energy by changing the electricity to heat.
- The amount of heat that a device emits is proportional to the amps and resistance (V=I/R and P=IV)
- An iron gets too hot to touch
- A computer gets warm, but I've never been burned by one.
Even though the amount of area that dissipates the heat from a computer is larger than the sole plate of an iron, nothing in the computer gets nearly as hot as the plate of the iron (on any setting steam or higher).
Therefore, I hypothesize that the steam iron uses more electricity than the PC. (If you hook many large monitors--150 watts or more each--to the computer and you include that in the system, you may be able to increase the energy usage of the computer "system".)
To test his hypothesis, I would look at an iron's electrical requirements (usually found on the iron near where the cord connects to the iron) and compare that number to the range of watt values that a PC power supply uses (250-~850 watts).
