Getting RAM to work on my PC?
My comp has two 128mb sticks, i just bought one 512mb stick, it is fully compatable, but when i put it in it wont pick it up, the computer just beeps, and our computer can't go over 512mb of ram, so if i put it in with a 128mb stick it only picks up the 128mb.
If i need to install it in two 256mb sticks as a pair, is there anyway i can trick my computer?
I know they are compatable because I did a scan, and researched it a bit.
My PC is an IBM NetVista with the m/t 6569-NAA
My RAM is 512mb PC-133
Looking at the recommended RAM, the manufacturer doesn't list any 512 MB sticks. That leads me to believe that it can only accept 256 MB RAM modules per slot for a total maximum of 512 MB.
Unfortunately, this is a hardware limitation issue and there's no "trick" or workaround.
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend upgrading this machine. Even at it's maximum potential, I don't think you'd be satisfied with it's performance. Surely you can find a better computer for $150 in the thrifties section of the newspaper. It is definately time for an update.
