Early Years of Hp Printers: How Did Hp Start in Printers?
When the history of the printer business is written HP will hold pride of place. Hewlett Packard has earned world-wide renown for its printers and various other electronic products that have not only made an intrinsic difference to the world of business but also to our daily lives.
The Start of HP
Before we tell you about HP printers; it’s important to give you a little bit of information about the beginnings of the company in general. It was in 1939 that Dave Packard and Bill Hewlett started working on an audio oscillator and laid the foundations for HP, in Paolo Alto in California. It was Walt Disney who helped the Company get off to a flyer after he bought several of the oscillators for his animation movie, Fantasia.
Getting into the Printer Business
There is no great story that needs to be told about the company getting into printers manufacturing. They have been widely credited as the pioneers of inkjet printing and laser printing, but as far as the invention of these printers goes, there is no one single manufacturer or inventor that can be credited with their invention. The company entered into the printers market in the normal course of events in an attempt to satisfying an ever increasing business demand for printers.
The Emergence of Their Printers
It was in 1984 that the first HP printers of the inkjet and laser variety made their entry into the market. These printers were specifically meant for the desktop models. It was in the 90s that the company decided to enter the printer market with a bang and the fact that their computers had become extremely popular meant that the demand for their printers was increasing like never before. The company started marketing their printers for the average consumer and not just for the offices.
A Brief Timeline
HP started its research in inkjet technology at HP labs, way back in 1978. At that point of time, there were quite a few large, industrial inkjet marking devices that were in use, however, these devices were considered unsuitable for use in the process of document printing. In the year 1984, low priced personal HP printers were introduced in the market known as ThinkJet. It was far superior to other printers in the market at that point of time and offered superior printing quality and that too at affordable rates and printer ink cartridges. This spelt the end for noisy dot-matrix printers.

Over the many years that it has been in the printer business, HP has made a mark for itself with its reliability, quality, and affordability. The ancillary printing supplies associated with HP printers are easily available in the market including cartridges, etc. Moreover, customer support is easily available and thus a person is able to maintain his or her printer in the best possible manner. The HP history of its printers is a journey of success brought through by cutting edge research and development.
