Lodge Logic LPGI3 Pro 20-by-10-7/16-Inch Cast-Iron Grill/Griddle List Price: $57.99 Sale Price: $40.99 |
|
The American-based company Lodge has been fine-tuning its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware for more than a century. No other metal is as long-lasting and works as well for spreading and retaining heat evenly during cooking. Lodge's Logic line of cookware comes factory pre-seasoned with the company's vegetable oil formula, and is ready to use right out of the box. This professional-size cast-iron grill/griddle combo from the Lodge Logic series measures 20 by 10-1/2 inches (with an actual cooking surface of 19-1/4 by 8-1/2 inches), serious enough to straddle either a campfire or two burners on your stovetop. The reversible feature of this crowd-pleasing cooker means you can use the smooth side for cooking flapjacks, eggs, and grilled cheese sandwiches, and the ridged grill side for hamburgers, steaks, and sausages. A slight slope drains fat into a generous grease gutter, and the two loop-style handles provide safe transport. After the meal is done, simply scrub the cast iron with a stiff brush and hot water, no soap, and dry immediately. Lodge covers the sturdy griddle with a lifetime limited warranty against defects. This pan is guaranteed to pass down from one generation to the next. --Ann Bieri Lodge Logic, 20" x 10-7/16", Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Pro-Grid Griddle With Reversible Cooking Surfaces, Smooth and Raised-Rib, Ready to Use, No Seasoning Required, Both Cooking Surfaces Feature A Slight Slope For Drainage Into A Generous Grease Gutter, Use On Camp Stove Or Inside On Gas Or Electric Range, Individually Boxed. |

Wabash Valley Farms 25008 Whirley-Pop Stovetop Popcorn Popper List Price: $29.98 Sale Price: $15.95 |
|
There's more to going to the movies than seeing the movie itself - it's the popcorn! Now, with the Whirley Pop Popcorn Maker, you can make fluffy, delicious popcorn just like you get at the theater. The stay-cool hardwood handle turns the stainless steel paddle inside, preventing scorching and burning, and making certain every kernel pops up like it should. The steam vents on top allow moisture to escape so the popcorn is always light and tender. Much quicker than microwaving, the popper makes up to 6 quarts and comes with a 25 year warranty. Also included with the popper is 1 popcorn packets (each one making up to 6 quarts) and "secret ingredient" flavoring packets that give the popcorn that movie-popcorn taste. The popper also comes with a recipe book for more popcorn flavor ideas.Pan is made of aluminum and the lid is made of stainless steel and aluminum. Face it, sometimes the best thing about going out to a movie is the popcorn, those big plump kernels that always seem so much better than what you pop at home. But this simple stovetop popper changes all that. It really does make awesome, fresh-popped corn that might make you start renting videos instead. The sturdy aluminum pan has a clip-on lid with a stay-cool wooden handle. A turn crank on the handle spins the key element: the stainless steel stirring system that keeps the corn moving across the bottom of the pan, for even heat and oil distribution, ensuring the best popping results. The lid has steam vents, to help keep the popcorn dry and crisp. The enclosed booklet is a wonderful resource, with not only clear and detailed instructions, but also dozens of recipes and popcorn history and lore. These are folks who really do know their popcorn, and the results are outstanding. --Cynthia Nims |

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band List Price: $18.98 Sale Price: $9.09 |
|
BEATLES THE SGT. PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND (ED Before Sgt. Pepper, no one seriously thought of rock music as actual art. That all changed in 1967, though, when John, Paul, George and Ringo (with "A Little Help" from their friend, producer George Martin) created an undeniable work of art which remains, after 30-plus years, one of the most influential albums of all time. From Lennon's evocative word/sound pictures (the trippy "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds," the carnival-like "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite") and McCartney's music hall-styled "When I'm 64," to Harrison's Eastern-leaning "Within You Without You," and the avant-garde mini-suite, "A Day in the Life," Sgt. Pepper was a milestone for both '60s music and popular culture. --Billy Altman |

Looney Tunes: Golden Collection, Vol. 1 List Price: $64.92 Sale Price: $35.81 |
|
For years, animation buffs have waited impatiently for the Warner Bros. cartoons to appear on DVD. The Warner shorts never commanded the budgets and prestige of the Disney and MGM films, and won fewer Oscars than they deserved. But decades after the best ones were created, they remain the quintessential Hollywood cartoons: brash, fast-paced, aggressively funny and uniquely American. Virtually everyone in the U.S. under the age of 60 grew up on these films, in theaters and on TV. The 56 cartoons in the set (out of a studio output of over 1,000) were transferred from good prints--which means the viewer can see dust, scratches, and occasional mistakes by the cel painters. The films are all presented uncut, in defiance of the killjoys who have insisted on censoring alleged "violence" in the versions shown on television. Warner Bros. is obviously testing consumer response with this set. Although the erratic selection includes many classics, purists will argue (correctly) that it offers neither a fair representation of the directors' oeuvres, nor anything approaching a coherent history of the characters or studio style. (Nearly half the films were directed by Chuck Jones; only three are by Bob Clampett, and there's nothing by Tex Avery or Frank Tashlin.) But it seems petty to carp about omissions and biases when the discs offer excellent, uncensored prints of some of the funniest films ever made in the U.S.--or anywhere else. (Rated G, suitable for all ages: cartoon violence) --Charles Solomon What's up, Doc? Well, how about a four-disc boxed set packed with 56 of the funniest cartoons in Warner Bros. history? Get ready to laugh yourself silly with salutes to Bugs Bunny ("Baseball Bugs," "Long-Haired Hare," "Wabbit Twouble," "The Rabbit of Seville," and more); Daffy Duck and Porky Pig ("Duck Amuck," "Dough for the Do-Do," "Scaredy Cat," "Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2th Century," and more); and other toon faves ("Elmer's Candid Camera," "Fast and Furry-ous," "For Scent-imental Reasons," "Speedy Gonzales," "The Foghorn Leghorn," "Devil May Hare," and more). 6 3/4 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital mono, French Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: English, French, Spanish; audio commentary; documentaries; featurette; more. NOTE: This set includes all 28 shorts from "Premiere Collection, Vol. 1." |

The Firm - Total Body: Low Impact Aerobics [VHS] List Price: $14.98 Sale Price: $17.99 |
|
This video misrepresents itself. Although the title is Low Impact Aerobics, it is not low impact. The cardio intervals include jogging, jumping jacks, and other moves with hops. This is a 65-minute reissue of a 1988 video that features Janet Jones-Gretzky, who is so slim that you can count her ribs through her white leotard, leading a class of fit, gorgeous exercisers (female and male). This aerobic interval workout combines fast cardio (no patterns) with more controlled cardio plus weights, though still at a fast pace. We've learned a lot about exercise since 1988, and these two-second reps with weights are not as effective as slower reps. They are also more likely to lead to injury. Although the video is targeted to all levels, unless you're an experienced exerciser, it's too easy to lose correct form when you're doing such fast reps and aerobic moves at the same time. You might find the weight intervals repetitious (tons of lunges and shoulder presses). A floor-work segment uses ankle weights, followed by a stretch. Unless you miss the old Firm workouts, choose one that is more up to date (and therefore safer and more effective). --Joan Price |

Nelson 1865 Raintrain Traveling Sprinkler List Price: $69.99 Sale Price: $47.99 |
|
While an automatic sprinkling system certainly ensures greener grass and nurtured flowerbeds during the sweltering days of summer, not every household comes equipped with such a system and they can be downright expensive to install. Historically, the alternative to the built-in sprinkler system has involved setting up a hose and sprinkler and then manually relocating the water source to several strategic locations every thirty minutes for several hours. Despite all the detail and time this manual system receives, the sprinkler never quite makes contact with certain patches. Likewise, swamping also occurs at times because homeowners generally have more important things to worry about than whether it is time to switch the sprinkler. Luckily, the folks at LR Nelson are employed to worry about finding comprehensive watering methods for busy homeowners who don't have the means, time, or desire to dig up the yard to install and intricate system of sprinkler pipes. Responsible for a bevy of creative lawn care solutions, the Peoria, Illinois outfit introduce this ingenious Raintrain traveling sprinkler. With a rustproof cast iron construction, the sprinkler waters up to 13, 500 square feet, though covering a lesser area of 11,9000 square feet ensures more effective performance. The sprinkler arms adjust for varied spray patterns and arcs, throwing water from 15 to 56 feet. The sprinkler waters as it travels along a hose on a preset route, much like an electric model train, except with a hose as the rails. To water, the homeowner lays out the hose as desired, taking care to avoid dramatic corners or turnabouts that may result in hose kinks or a derailed sprinkler. A front wheel runs on the hose with the two traction-ready rear wheels bestride. The hose connects to the posterior of the sprinkler. For the best results, LR Nelson recommends a 5/8-inch hose, though a 1/2-inch hose may suffice, up to 200 feet in length. For sprinkling termination, the user places a shut-off ramp on the hose to lift the sprinkler off its "rails," while simultaneous stopping operation. The shut-off ramp should be installed with at least five feet of hose between it and the spigot. The traveling sprinkler operates at two motor speeds, high and low. On high power, the sprinkler travels approximately 37 feet per hour, with a 1/4-inch water application. On low power, the sprinkler moves at a 21 feet per hour rate with a 1/2-inch water application. The simple installation requires no tools. The sprinkler weighs 18.1 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling NELSON RAIN TRAIN TRAVEL SPRINKLER *Covers up to 13500 square feet *Travels up to 200 feet *Propels across the lawn following the pattern you lay out with the hose *Equipped with 3 speed settings *Designed to automatically shut off at any given point along your hose track *Ideal for medium to large lawns *Cast iron body with chip resistant powder-coat paint |

Champion Plus Features: Large blade, small blade Corkscrew, can opener, bottle opener Small screwdriver, large screwdriver Reamer, punch Key ring, tweezers, toothpick Scissors, multi-purpose hook Wood saw, fish scaler Hook disgorger, ruler Nail file, nail cleaner Metal file, metal saw Fine screwdriver, chisel/scraper Phillips screwdriver Magnifying glass, straight pen Pressurized ball point pen Mini screwdriver, sewing eye About Swiss Army Knives In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility. |

OXO Good Grips Bottle Brush Sale Price: $4.90 |
|
Bottles are notoriously difficult to clean; not only are they usually nearly impossible to get a brush into them, but they have hard to reach corners near the base as well. Now, thanks to OXO, your problems are solved with this Good Grips bottle brush. Using a thin and flexible neck, the brush can be inserted deep into a bottle and manipulated to scrub the farthest of corners. The bristles are soft enough to be used on non-stick surfaces, and gentle enough to clean delicates such as baby bottles, vases, carafes, pitchers, and more. When not in use, simply hang the brush up on a peg, if desired, using the handle's eyelet.OXO was founded on the philosophy of Universal Design, which is the concept of designing products that are easy to use for the largest possible spectrum of users. In the case of OXO, it means designing products for young and old, male and female, left- and right- handed and many with special needs. These ergonomically- designed, trans-generational tools set a new standard for the industry and raised the bar of consumer expectation for comfort and performance. With two types of bristles and a flexible neck, the bottle brush by Oxo is the ultimate weapon in cleaning skinny bottles and narrow jars. Because of the brush's flexible neck and rounded head, nooks and crannies are easy to get to and get clean. The nonslip handle stays firmly in place--even under running water--and absorbs pressure and tension away from hands. --Laurie Notaro |

For a tasty old-fashioned meal of comfort foods, give these recipes a try. Barbecue beef short rib bake is always a hit with meat lovers, especially those with a taste for barbecue. And while the ribs are baking, you have a chance to make this old-fashion potato salad. This potato salad is different since it uses Marzetti's slaw dressing. And the Chewy Nut Squares are delicious with their chewy character accented with nuts and coconut.
BARBECUE SHORT RIB BAKE
4 to 5 lbs beef short ribs, cut in serving size pieces
Salt and Pepper
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup diced celery
3 tbsp salad oil
3/4 cup ketchup
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp seasoned salt
1 tsp prepared mustard
Arrange ribs in a 9x13x2-inch baking pan. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake at 425 degrees for 40 minutes. Meanwhile, cook onion and celery in oil in a small saucepan until they are tender. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. Simmer gently about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove ribs from oven; drain excess fat. Baste ribs with about half the sauce. Lower oven temperature to 350 degrees; bake ribs 1 hour longer until fork tender. Baste occasionally with remaining sauce. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

1/4 cup chopped sweet pickles
2 tbsp chopped pimento, optional

Art Auctions for Vintage Posters
Vintage posters are always available at art auctions. I have found all kinds of vintage poster art auctions lately. I really liked a vintage poster I found that was from the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam. The poster is rare because it is one of the only 500 of the 10,000 printed that is in French.
Another vintage poster I found in an art auction was from 1917. It depicts French woman in war time performing various tasks. The poster celebrates the contribution of French women in the workforce. During war time, French women made up forty percent of the workforce.
I’m always a sucker for old vintage posters of rock bands. I look for them in art auctions all the time. I like ones that are autographed, like the one from The Who that I saw recently. I felt like the starting bid was a little high and so I didn’t try to win it.
I have been leaning more and more lately toward French vintage posters. I found a vintage poster for Orangina that was printed in 1970 at an art auction recently. I thought that the art auction would only get to one thousand dollars, but I was wrong. The vintage poster sold for twelve hundred dollars.
My older brother needed something interesting for the walls of his new apartment. I started looking for vintage posters in art auctions and found the perfect poster. The one that I found featured race cars and he loves race cars. The poster was from the 1965 Nurbergring Grosser Preis Von Deutschland and looked fantastic for being forty years old.
French advertisements seem to make the best vintage posters. I like finding art auctions for posters advertising products like Lu Biscuits. I found a great vintage poster for less than a thousand dollars and it looks great in my kitchen.
Vintage posters that relate to travel always get a lot of interest at an art auction. I saw a lovely poster that was advertising the English Lake District in France. The poster was produced in 1905. I like viewing them, but I do not personally collect posters in this style.
I found a vintage poster at an art auction that advertised shoe polish. This was a French poster that was made in the 1930’s. I framed it and put it in my dressing room. It fits in there perfectly and really adds to the feel of the room.
My sister married a man with a cycling shop. They have used a variety of cycling related items to decorate their home. My favorite piece is an old fashioned tricycle they keep in the formal living room. I found a vintage poster in an art auction that depicted an advertisement for Celtic Cycles and they loved it when I gave it to them.
I found set of vintage posters of The Beatles that were made in 1967. The posters were for sale an art auction I attended. I have seen vintage posters designed by Richard Avedon before and I really liked his vision of The Beatles. These vintage posters were well worth the two hundred dollars each I paid for them.
The vintage poster that I have my eye on right now is up for sale at an art auction coming up. It is an Andy Warhol advertisement for Chanel perfume. I want to win this vintage poster and frame it and hang it on the wall of my master bathroom. It would be perfect there and would absolutely complete the look I was going for.

How much is an old, vintage, working Bezerk arcade machine worth?
(Made by "Stern") Everything works. It has a lighted sign, working coin slots etc... Believed to be from the '70's. It was the first, talking, stand-up arcade machine.
Berzerk (ARC) was released in 1980 & considered to be one of the old classics.
The standard cabinet in good, working condition would likely fetch between $300 - $500 on auction (at an guesstimate)
If the cabinet in is excellent (as in near-mint, with all cabinet artwork in great condition) working order, you're likely to fetch around $1,500
This game is likely to appreciate in value, although it's a fairly common game.
There are currently 4 people on the VAPS.org website that are currently wanting this game... if you're interested in selling.
