High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! A nixie tube is an electronic device for displaying numerals or other information. The glass tube contains a wire-mesh anode and multiple cathodes. In most tubes, the cathodes are shaped like numerals. Applying power to one cathode surrounds it with an orange glow discharge. The tube is filled with a gas at low pressure, usually mostly neon and often a little mercury and/or argon, in a Penning mixture. This book was created using print-on-demand technology.

The world of timepiece collecting can be an exciting hobby for a collector. There are many types of timepieces to collect, from the famous Erzgebirge cuckoo, to chiming alarm, Nixie tube and even antique grandfather clocks. If you are a collector of beautiful time keeping devices without a lot of space in your home for large antique items like grandfather style timepieces, Bulova miniature clocks are a great collection to start.
There are many types of miniatures available for the discerning clock collector. Many types of miniature clocks were made in smaller quantities which makes them more valuable. The most common type is a reduced scale version of a larger timepiece like a mantle, wall, or free standing clock. Many of these reduced scale types have the same movements, inlays, and paintings that the large scale originals have and there are even miniature cuckoos carved in exquisite detail. Miniature Howard Miller grandfather clocks can be a charming start for a collection, but you don't have to begin with miniature versions of larger clocks. There are many miniatures worked into other models like statues, figurines, airplanes, houses, motorcycles, and other types of small sculptures. If you have a themed collection, you can find a miniature timepiece that fits. Many Bulova miniature clocks are made from metals like brass or chrome or even gold or silver.
You can find miniature time devices to fit any decor or theme, and your entire collection can be easily displayed. Mini clocks can be displayed in many ways. There are lighted curio cabinets available to showcase your collection. If you have an antique cabinet, you can install battery operated lights beneath the shelves to bring out the sparkle of jeweled Bulova miniature clocks.
Bulova has been making fine timepieces since 1875, and has been a leader in the industry for most of the twentieth century. The company began making these tiny clocks in 1986, including collections and themed sets of miniature clocks. Each miniature clock is made with precision and a jeweler's touch to create a collectible that is beautiful but also keeps perfect time. Bulova also offers repair services, or you can have your Bulova miniature clocks repaired at the jeweler of your choice.

What is the difference between a nixie tube and a pixie tube?
I recently purchased some nixie tubes on Ebay, which are vacuum tubes with numeric filaments (0-9) that light up depending on the pins the voltage is applied to. It's basically a crude digital display. My father knew these as pixie tubes, I was wondering: Is there a difference between the two? If so, what's the difference?
Your dad misremembers. You have a Nixie tube. A Pixie tube has a plate with stencil icons inscribed in it, which are lit up by electrodes behind them.
They are both gas discharge tubes however.
Unicat retro TV channels the 1940s, bidding now underway
How does technology a half-century old manage to be this sexy? We're not certain. But this one-of-a-kind, handmade retro television -- which seemingly combines an old desktop lamp and a giant magnifying glass -- definitely tugs at our heartstrings. With a 5.5-inch monochrome CRT screen and no inputs to speak of, you won't be watching Blu-rays on this set, and its PAL standard and 220V plug mean ...
