Dell Laptop having network connection problems.. Can someone please help?
I have a Dell laptop that is hooked up to a docking station and connected to a network.... Today I could not access any network drives, they showed up but there was a message that said the local device is already in use and the connection to the network could not be restored... I rebooted and re-docked, no luck.... I took the laptop off the dock and took the network cable out of the back of the docking station and put it directly into the laptop.... This worked... Can someone please tell me what could be wrong with my docking station, thanks!
I have an h, m,p and c drive...
If you have network drives that are assigned high up in the alphabet (like drive E, F,G,H etc). Then you might have a device like a printer, external hard drive or camera that is trying to grab that drive also. The simple thing to do, it disconnect those network drives and try using drive letters like T S U V, etc.
Or you can go to the DISK MANAGEMENT utility under Computer Management and change the drive letter of your other devices.
