All of your favorite Nintendo characters have come together to answer the question: who is king of the Nintendo hill? The format can aptly be described as Super Mario Kart meets Mortal Kombat, which makes for an odd, yet addictive game. The object is to throw, punch, smash, or blast your opponents off the edge of the beautifully rendered, themed arenas. Numerous power-ups, weapons, and surprises help or hinder the melee. Your eventual goal is to fight your way through to a bizarre final boss character. Victory in this battle rewards you with another character to play, such as the scene-stealing Pokémon, Jigglypuff.

Your eventual goal is to fight your way through to a bizarre final boss character. Victory in this battle rewards you with another character to play, such as the scene-stealing Pokémon, Jigglypuff. From Star Fox's laser pistol to Link's hook shot, each character's trademark special abilities are utilized to knock one another off the screen. The game does a great job balancing the characters' widely differing powers so that no one character has an insurmountable advantage. The sound and animations are also dead-on: Donkey Kong is a huge, cartoonish ape, while Link is much more detailed and realistic. And Pikachu's famous thunder shock attack is accompanied by a fearsome yell of "PIKA!" Unlike most fighting games, Super Smash Bros. allows you to team up with a computer partner and take on other teams in both single and multiplayer modes. But the most fun is had when four human players play in a battle royale. The game quickly becomes a scene of incredibly fun chaos: picture Mario beating up on Luigi, while Donkey Kong is chased by a scampering, sledgehammer-wielding Pikachu. It's the perfect party game. --Hugh Arnold Pros: Great characters: Mario, Luigi, Pikachu, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Link, Star Fox, Yoshi, and more Simple gameplay Computer partner option Colorful arenas Cons: Limited number of arenas

If you are having a Halloween party, there is nothing more fun to have on hand than edible Halloween crafts. It's great for partygoers to nosh on eyeballs, spiders, and other types of edible Halloween crafts. It not only makes the party fun, but it makes it interesting as well.

Here's one of our favorite recipes for edible Halloween crafts, Yummy Brains:

Take one package blueberry Jell-O mix and prepare according to directions. Pour a 16 ounce container of cottage cheese into a bowl. Take a can of blueberries in syrup and drain off the syrup. Add the blueberries to the cottage cheese and mix well. Add blue food coloring sparingly to turn the cottage cheese/blueberry mixture to a gray color when mixed together. To serve, place a scoop of Jell-O on a plate, pour the blueberry syrup over the Jell-O and top with cottage cheese mixture. MMMM - Yummy Brains!

Are you hungry for more edible Halloween crafts? How about trying out some creepy eyeballs? Basically, these are deviled eggs with a black olive in the middle. In the event you do not know how to make deviled eggs, here's how. Take eggs and boil them for about two minutes. Reduce heat and leave on stove for three more minutes. Drain off the hot water and then give them a cold bath until they are cooled down. Peel the eggs and slice them lengthwise. Scoop out the yolks and mash with a fork until smooth. If you boil up about half a dozen eggs, you should add about half a cup of mayo (adjust to make sure the mixture is creamy but not runny). Add some prepared mustard and mix well. Scoop the yolk mixture into the egg whites. Place a black olive into the center of each yolk and you have some eyeballs ready to eat!

Finally, the best edible Halloween crafts we found is the recipe for Monster Toes or Bloody Fingers. You'll first need cocktail wieners. Cut a wedge into the end of each to make a place for the toe/finger nail. Cut flour tortillas into 4 inch long by half an inch wide strips. Roll each wiener into a tortilla strip, secure with a toothpick, and place on a cookie sheet. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 7 minutes. After removing from oven, fill the toe/finger nail portion with ketchup and serve. Ewww, but yummy all at the same time!

Edible Halloween crafts are fun to make and even more fun to eat. There are a lot of creative ways to make food into scary edible Halloween crafts - just use your imagination and then enjoy watching your guests eat their scary treats!

2009 Kids Top 10 Christmas Toys

The 2009 holidays are upon us. Christmas is the main day we emphasize gift giving and showing others how much we care.

The joy reflected on a child’s face when he or she receives a new toy is priceless.

We as parents, friends, or grandparents are so busy throughout the year that we do not realize all the new toys available from which to choose.

Listed below is an indication as to which toys are deemed the top 10 choices this holiday season.

1. A digital music making system lets children make their own songs just like a real music producer. They access a large selection of tracks, and special effects from an online library.  Easy to understand and use.

2. Touch Cube.  Features colored lights and an electronic touch system, modern or classic sound effects, and an internal memory.  It has a small stand upon which it sits and can be a desk accessory.  Very eye catching.

3. A headset that one can move objects by concentration!  A lightweight headset that has small sensors on the front of the head and ear lobes measures brain waves.  The ball is guided through and obstacle course via your thoughts.  The kids will love it!

4. A replica of the hero transformer Bumblebee on a helmet.  The main emphasis is a voice feature that remixes ones voice with 6 music styles, as well as, the sound of the bee changing from car, robot and back.  Kids love hearing their voice transformed!

5. A music rhythm video game that has an electronic turntable peripheral that lets gamers mix and scratch to popular mash ups like real DJ’s.

6. A new member added the the FurReal animal family.  This robotic toy is the likeness of a cuddly cat.  The sensors within allow her to purr when touched.  She can roll over, lick her paws and face, just as a real cat does.  Very lifelike.

7. A toy from the Clone Wars TV show.  Tinted visor, crest on top, 5 signature phrases from the movie, voice amplifier and changer, adjustable to fit head sizes.

8.  Pet robotic hamsters that are very realistic and interactive. They move and make hamster sounds, cooing and purring in their own play set.  Hours of fun for kids!

9. A new smart Cycle, only it has a newer more colorful style.  The premise is the same, exercise for kids while having fun.  The new cartridges feature bumpy roads, construction areas, oil slicks and graveled paths which creates a rumbling effect in the handle bars.

10. A new Wii accessory. It connects to the Wii remote controller.  It has additional sensors that respond quickly to the slightest twist, movement of the wrist or any motion, this enhances accuracy and play control.

I hope you find the list helpful when making your toy selections.

May Joy, Peace and Prosperity be with you and your family throughout this Holiday Season.

Using adhesive for installing tackless strips on concrete?

I'm looking to complete a traditional carpet install on some 50 year old concrete floors. I like the feel of a traditional pad and stretched carpet, so would like to avoid glue down carpet. The catch is that even using a .22 cartridge nailer, I can't get nails into the old concrete. At best, they just mash themselves against the concrete, and at worst they spall out a lentil sized chunk. If necessary, I could hammer drill holes and nail into them, but that seems like a lot of work. Does anyone have experience using adhesive products on the trackless strips themselves?

Are you using hardened concrete nails? I've never heard of them mashing; they're as hard as a drill bit, and generally when they don't go in, they just don't go in; they remain un-seated and otherwise completely unharmed by the explosion.

If you want to use construction adhesive, make sure it's intended to hold on both wood and concrete, then clean the area thoroughly, fasten down a tack strip and come back after waiting the specified drying time and do a pull-test. If it survives that, and you don't have any unusual moisture problems that might come along later and weaken the bond, soften the wood, etc., then you'll probably come out a winner.
