It would be easy to dismiss B.R.M.C. as another bunch of Britpop wannabes. Their amalgam of fuzzed-out vocals and chugging guitars over layers of droning feedback immediately brings to mind the Jesus and Mary Chain and Primal Scream. But the band's wanton attitude easily compensates for its lack of originality. Plucking its name from the Marlon Brando classic The Wild One and digging deep into its weathered copy of Psycho Candy for lyrical inspiration, the leather-clad San Francisco trio picks up where Oasis left off--pillaging the past, regurgitating it shamelessly, and making it sound exciting and dangerous in the process. Imagine the sheer audacity that goes into writing a song like "Whatever Happened to My Rock & Roll (Punk Song)"--all Stooges agitation and Beach Boys melodies--and backing it with a blissful Stone Roses homage called "Awake." They're not the best at what they do, but right now they're all we've got. --Jaan Uhelski

Walter Hill's updated (1984), highly stylized take on biker movies still looks like a determinedly eccentric project that happens to work at times, but not at others. Michael Paré plays a biker who agrees to rescue his ex-girlfriend (a rocker played by Diane Lane) from kidnappers (led by Willem Dafoe). The ensuing battle against a nocturnal background of industrial blight, chrome, and loud music is like some fever dream of a Springsteen fan who listened to the song "Born to Run" far too often. The audacity of the film carries it a long way even after it becomes clear that Hill's experiment is crumbling under its own weight. Dafoe, who looked even spookier back then than he does now, is memorable, as are Amy Madigan and Rick Moranis. Music is by Ry Cooder, with an appearance by the Blasters. The DVD release has a widescreen presentation, optional French soundtrack, optional Spanish subtitles. --Tom Keogh
Director Walter Hill's futuristic, music-filled adventure stars Diane Lane as a rock singer who's kidnapped by a savage motorcycle gang and Michael Pare as the mercenary and ex-lover leading the chase to find her. With Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan, Willem Dafoe. 93 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital Surround; Subtitles: Spanish; biographies; theatrical trailer.

Grease 2

Sale Price: $2.88

More marvelous musical fun! Rydell High is up in the air over a mysterious motorcycle master who's charming Pink Lady Michelle Pfeiffer away from T-Bird leader Adrian Zmed. Could he possibly be quiet new student Maxwell Caulfield? Fun-filled '60s sequel also stars Lorna Luft, Tab Hunter, Eve Arden, Didi Conn. 114 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital Surround, French Dolby Digital stereo; Subtitles: English.
Too often, sequels to popular films simply rehash the original film; call it the carbon-copy syndrome. Grease 2 suffers from no such malady, having almost nothing to do with the original film. Sure, it focuses on teens at Rydell High, the imaginary school from the first film, which starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. But other than a few of the teachers, all of the characters are new and so are the songs--and more's the pity. By the time Grease hit the big screen, it already had had almost a decade as a theatrical musical, more than enough time to hone its mock-rock & roll score. But this sequel, which stars among others a then-unknown Michelle Pfeiffer, Maxwell Caulfield, and Lorna Luft (Judy Garland's daughter), has music that's neither fish nor fowl, neither rock nor Broadway. Meanwhile, the plot is a reversal of the first film, in which a cool guy fell for a square girl. In this one, the square is newcomer Caulfield, who catches the eye of tough girl Pfeiffer and her Pink Lady gang. The appearance of such pseudo-stars of the '50s, like Tab Hunter, is supposed to lend a nostalgic kick, but let's just say that Grease 2 slides almost instantly into obscurity. --Marshall Fine

What Are Popular Leather Motorcycle Jacket Features?
You may think of a leather motorcycle jacket as something that never, ever changes and is exactly the same as it always is. However, jackets have changed a lot since James Dean's day. In fact, if you put a modern day leather motorcycle jacket side by side with a jacket from 10, 20 or 30 years ago chances are you wouldn't recognize them both as being closely related. Today there are many great motorcycle jacket features. Technology has changed a lot over the years and with the advent of new types of materials as well as leather jacket production techniques things are very different today.
A newer feature found in jackets is water proofing. This will let you keep riding even if the weather gets wet, without damaging your jacket. Check on manufacturer's websites to see if they offer this feature. This feature also ensures your chances of staying dry if it does start to rain. Obviously a rain suit is better, but if your riding and hit a small shower, it is good to know your whole body won't be soaked.
You can also find many jackets with protective armor. Many only have this feature in the elbows and shoulders, but you want it on the back and chest, to prevent injuries there. It should be semi stiff, and not shift when you move. If the jacket you purchase doesn't have build in body armor to protect your spine and chest area you can always get under armor, which you wear under your jacket. This helps augment the protection in any jacket.
For a rider going on a long rider, who needs storage, there are leather motorcycle jacket features that can give that to you. You will find the most storage in a three quarter length style jacket.
Many nice jackets have articulated sleeves, which mimic the curve of your arm when riding. You should also look for a sleeve that completely covers your wrist even when your arm is extended. The articulated sleeves make wearing your jacket for long distances much more comfortable. Since the sleeves don't bunch up, there isn't any pressure on the elbows while riding, try one out and you will see the difference!
A leather motorcycle jacket feature to look for is roominess. You want a jacket that fits you well, but has some extra room so that on a night ride, a sweatshirt can be warm under it to keep you warm. You can now even get jackets with electric heater inserts, for that extremely cold weather riding.
When you're buying your jacket, check for a removable lining. This will allow the part of your jacket that may become dirty or sweaty to be washed without damaging the leather jacket. Many liners can be used to help keep you warm in just cool weather. In the Summer time you may want to go with a mesh jacket, but removing the inner liner can sometimes make riding with the leather jacket comfortable.
When you're in the market for a new jacket, make sure to check out the great new leather motorcycle jacket features available to you. These features can help to give you a more comfortable ride.

What are the comparisons between Textile & Leather Motorcycle jackets?
I'm just wondering what the general benifits of each are.
...why should I consider one over the other?
Thanks a lot for any feedback
Leather is great. I've got several jackets, 2 textile joe rocket jackets and an Alpinestars leather jacket.
I was in an accident on the interstate in november at 80mph and after bouncing off the road, I was hit by a semi-truck, going over the hood and fender, landed in the road and came to a stop, then I got up and stumbled off the lane of traffic where I collapsed. I had on my full face helmet, leather jacket, jeans, leather shoes. My shoes came off and I had severe road rash from my knees down, including on my toes and bottom of my feet, a broken rib, lacerated liver, collapsed lung, and a fractured anlke. I was life-flighted to the hospital where I spent 6 days.
However, my leather jacket sustained only scrapes on it and discoloration where its scuffed. If I'd had a textile jacket on, I may not be in the great condition that I am now.
If you're worried about being hot in the summer, they make perforated leather that allows some air to flow through. If its really really hot, wear a textile, but keep in mind it doesn't offer the same protection. If textiles were so great, why don't pro racers wear it? At higher speeds, the heat from friction against the road melts the synthetic material and your skin, fusing them together.
Keep it upright and between the lines.
