Sesame Street: Kids' Favorite Songs
List Price: $9.93
Sale Price: $3.49

Kids' Favorite Songs kicks off with a cackle-worthy parody of Bob Dylan doing "Old McDonald," and from there the groovy gags keep comin' 'round the mountain. Everywhere Elmo turns on Sesame Street monsters spontaneously burst into song, and all because they want him to feature their favorite tunes on his forthcoming radio countdown. For Telly, winnowing the hits to one is akin to Cookie Monster choosing between a macaroon and a figgie bar: at first he's sure that "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" lights his fire, but then he says bye-bye to a black sheep. The street heaves a collective sigh pavementward when word comes down that the countdown is strictly a numbers gig, no music involved. Only Sesame Street could weave well-loved musical numbers around a simple numbers lesson with such wacky pizzazz, making this a countdown that's no letdown for high-spirited parent-preschooler combos. --Tammy La Gorce
Elmo's getting ready for his Top Ten Countdown on the radio and everyone on Sesame Street wants him to play their favorite songs! But with so many great songs to choose from, how will Elmo pick which ones to play? Maybe you can help him decide. Which of these favorites is your favorite song?Recommended Ages: 12 months & up

Sarah (a teenage Jennifer Connelly) rehearses the role of a fairy-tale queen, performing for her stuffed animals. She is about to discover that the time has come to leave her childhood behind. In real life she has to baby-sit her brother and contend with parents who don't understand her at all. Her petulance leads her to call the goblins to take the baby away, but when they actually do, she realizes her responsibility to rescue him. Sarah negotiates the Labyrinth to reach the City of the Goblins and the castle of their king. The king is the only other human in the film and is played by a glam-rocking David Bowie, who performs five of his songs. The rest of the cast are puppets, a wonderful array of Jim Henson's imaginative masterpieces. Henson gives credit to children's author and illustrator Maurice Sendak, and the creatures in the movie will remind Sendak fans of his drawings. The castle of the king is a living M.C. Escher set that adults will enjoy. The film combines the highest standards of art, costume, and set decoration. Like executive producer George Lucas's other fantasies, Labyrinth mixes adventure with lessons about growing up. --Lloyd Chesley

With the famed puppet troupe's heyday behind them, it's up to young Muppet Walter, his human brother Gary (Jason Segel, who also co-wrote), and Gary's girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams) to bring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and the rest of the gang back together in order to put on a show and save the Muppet Theater from a greedy oil baron (Chris Cooper). Rashida Jones also stars in this fun-filled blend of music and laughs. Includes the tunes "Life's a Happy Song," "Man or Muppet," and more. 103 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital stereo, French, Spanish; Subtitles: English (SDH), French, Spanish; audio commentary; featurettes; deleted scenes; bloopers; soundtrack download card; more. Also includes a DVD version of the film. Three-disc set.
Movies attempting to retrieve cherished nuggets of pop culture often stumble, either by appealing solely to the die-hard minutia enthusiasts or clunking up the batter with unnecessary additions to the base material. (Enough with the human love triangles, get to the giant robots fighting.) Thankfully, this revival of Jim Henson's beloved characters gets the formula delightfully right, providing a googly-eyed nostalgia trip for adults while also retaining the original's sense of bright (and mildly subversive) wonder. All that's missing is a cameo from Shields and Yarnell, really. Kicking off with a boffo musical number, the story follows Walter (voice of Peter Linz), a small-town boy with a uniquely personal affection for the long-retired Muppets. (OK, he's made of felt.) Teaming up with his brother (Jason Segel, who also co-scripted) and the local schoolteacher (Amy Adams), they attempt to get Kermit, Fozzie, and the gang back together in order to save their studio from an evil oil baron (Chris Cooper, going all in). Director James Bobin (Flight of the Conchords) does a marvelous job of updating and honoring his material, weaving sly references to days gone by (the contents of Kermit's rolodex are a particular delight) into the mix of songs, celebrity cameos, and barn-broad puns that gave the original show its bubbly kick. (Fans of Animal and the Chickens will not go home disappointed.) Even the moments that don't quite work land with a cornball brio that feels wholly of a piece with Henson's universe. The result is a true family movie that still brings on the blissful, uncomplicated grins days after viewing. No matter what Statler and/or Waldorf might say, the show goes on. --Andrew Wright Related Products Amazon's Disney Store Amazon's Muppets Store More Muppets in Movies & TV Versions of The Muppets on Blu-ray and DVD The Muppets The Muppets (Single-Disc DVD + Soundtrack Download Card) The Muppets (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) The Muppets (Three-Disc Combo: Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy + Soundtrack Download Card) Release Date March 20, 2012 March 20, 2012 March 20, 2012 March 20, 2012 Format/Disc # DVD DVD + Soundtrack Download Card Blu-ray, DVD Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Copy + Soundtrack Download Card Blu-ray No No Yes Yes DVD Yes Yes Yes Yes Digital Copy No No No Yes Bonus Features None DVD Feature Film+ BonusDigital Full-Length Original SoundtrackThe Longest Blooper Reel Ever Made (In Muppet History**) Blu-ray Feature Film + BonusDVD Feature Film+ BonusScratching the Surface: A Hasty Examination of The Making of The MuppetsA Little Screen Test on the Way to the Read ThroughExplaining Evil: The Full Tex Richman Song Deleted ScenesAudio CommentaryDisney IntermissionThe Longest Blooper Reel Ever Made (In Muppet History**) Same as The Muppets (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) plus:Digital CopyDigital Full-Length Original Soundtrack

This simply irresistible first feature from the Muppets has Kermit the frog going from the swamps to Hollywood to be a star. As he travels and picks up his usual friends (Miss Piggy, Fozzie the Bear), Doc Hopper (Charles Durning) is in pursuit, looking for Kermit to be the spokesman for his frog-leg cuisine. A loose rendition of The Wizard of Oz, the film incorporates the same cagey humor as their breakout syndicated TV series The Muppet Show. This is one of the few times that a human cast (notably Steve Martin, Orson Welles, and Carol Kane) are integrated seamlessly with nonhumans. Worth noting is Paul Williams's score, which includes the Oscar-nominated "The Rainbow Connection." Williams's music, much like Howard Ashman's work on The Little Mermaid and other Disney films, provides more than atmosphere; there's a degree of magic here. Williams did not work on the future Muppet films until A Muppet Christmas Carol. His contributions made these films the best of the Muppet series. --Doug Thomas

Created before the days of computer animation, Dinosaurs is an early 1990s television comedy series featuring impressive anthropomorphic, animatronic creatures created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop. The story lines challenge some of society's most basic assumptions and explore some of the most universally troublesome aspects of "civilized" life. Set in six million three BC, the Sinclairs are your "typical" blue-collar dinosaur family attempting to adjust to the relatively new concept of communal living. The adjustments of moving from a nomadic lifestyle to one of domestication and social interaction are many, and challenging issues like the concepts of right and wrong, faith, and the intricacies of family relationships are forever besieging this every-man's family. Naturally, the Sinclair family approach is to address each obstacle with an abundance of slapstick comedy. The Dinosaurs episodes regularly function on dual levels: the puppetry and silly antics like Baby Sinclair's penchant for hitting her father over the head with a pan while hollering "Not the Mama" appeal to even the youngest children, but the often pointed social commentary and sometimes mature themes are squarely aimed at an adult audience. As a result, parental discretion and guidance are key in determining whether this series is appropriate for children under 9 or 10 years old. --Tami Horiuchi
All 24 episodes from the first two seasons--including "The Mighty Megalosaurus," "The Howling," "Endangered Species," "A New Leaf," and "WESAYSO Knows Best"--are featured in a four-disc set. 11 1/4 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital stereo; Subtitles: English (SDH); featurettes. **22 episodes on 4 discs. 11 1/4 hrs.**

Come discover for yourself the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, Muppetational pleasures of THE MUPPET SHOW SEASON ONE!Product Measures: 0.5 x 5.5 x 7.5
The charm, the zaniness, the corny jokes, the showbiz cliches--every element of The Muppet Show holds up 30 years after Jim Henson's legendary variety series' debut season. Well, perhaps not everything: Today's younger viewers might have a hard time placing some of The Muppet Show's then-guest stars, such as Florence Henderson or Ruth Buzzi. But then, the Show's real celebrities are perennial icons Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo the... whatever, Fozzie Bear, Animal, and the rest of the Muppets' harried, well-meaning family of entertainers. Season One finds the show pretty much in the basic shape longtime fans will remember: A musical introduction followed by backstage chaos, another musical number, a sketch, a scene with the guest star, and so on. A half-hour episode can fly by pretty quickly, but it's interesting to note that the series hadn't quite found its familiar tone through much of the first year. A reliance on too many disposable verbal jokes and redundant, so-so material for sketch fodder ultimately gives way to more creative premises and the development of key relationships between characters. By the final half-dozen episodes in the first season, The Muppet Show is truly cooking. Season highlights include Kermit's confession to guest Juliet Prowse that he always wanted to be a dancer, and Prowse's comparison of the little green superstar to Robert Redford. Joel Grey does a cabaret-style act for a roomful of Muppets and is later outraged when Kermit's introduction of the actor proves so thorough there is nothing left for the latter to say. Rita Moreno proves quite game in a funny piece, set in a French cafe, in which her dance with a man-size Muppet turns from romantic to table-smashing violent. Harvey Korman plays bumbling ringmaster Maurice the Magnificent, easily the worst animal trainer in history. Phyllis Diller bats out shameless one-liners ("I sang 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,' and it fell on me"), and Vincent Price toys with his own horror film image by playing a ghoul who turns into a maudlin orchestra conductor at midnight. --Tom Keogh Stills from The Muppet Show (click for larger image) The divine Miss Piggy Kermit and Miss Piggy Fozzie Bear and Kermit Sing along! Left Handed Celebrities Making a Left Handed Mark on the World
Left handed celebrities have graced movie screens, broadway shows, and T.V. since the beginning of the theatrical arts. Charlie Chaplin is one of the first well known southpaws who entered the world of theater, and after him came many many more. Lefties tend to be very creative which is an important attribute in acting, singing, etc.
Fan favorite left handed actors include Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts and Bruce Willis. Other great lefties are the late George Burns, Michael Landon and the creator of the muppets, Jim Henson. This star-studded list of celebrities reads like a Who's Who of All Time Hollywood Legends.
Left handers are more inclined to go into the arts, music or anything that requires us to use our imagination. Some current theories say we are moving from the Information Age to the Conceptual Age as described in an article by Daniel H. Pink, Revenge of the Right Brain. He suggests that the outsourcing of routine analytical jobs will continue and companies will rely more heavily on creative and imaginative people to sell their products or services. This could be very good for us southpaws
Two recent American Idol standouts David Cook and David Archuleta battled it out on stage to see who was the first left handed American Idol. Even though David Cook won they can both be added to the growing list of famous lefties.
I should also mention the musical contributions of Beethoven, Jimi Hendrix and Paul McCartney. Yes, they all used their dominate left hand to rein over the musical world.
Left handed celebrities have made an important impact on the theatrical arts community and will continue to due so for years to come. Kinda gives you another reason to be proud of being left handed.

Who would win in a fight, Walt Disney, or Jim Henson?
Who is the winner?
Jim henson was a very gentle hearted person and even to his last days regarded other people's feelings before his own
walt disney grew up in classical america
so walt would probably knock down henson
