In order to list foods and their glycemic index which ranges from 0 to 100 you will be able to compile your meal plans. Depending on the numbers will depend on if you blood sugars will remain stable or will rise quite considerably. Foods that contain carbohydrates vary to a degree where digestion is slow or digestion is fast. If digestion is slow one will experience a slow rise in blood sugars and if the digestion process is fast one will experience a quick spike.
A low glycemic index will range from 0 to 55 and a medium glycemic index ranges from 55 to around 70 and a high index ranges from 70 to 100. Any foods above 70 are not suitable for diabetics. A glycemic index is listed according to foods sorts and not meal groups. However, you may come across glycemic value index charts that slightly differ from each other but they all work around the same principals.
A glycemic index can be confusing especially if you have never used one. For instance a health bar with chocolate has a count of around 40 and a bagel has a count of 70. The reason being that the health bar has a lower count is that it contains peanuts which are a source of protein and protein slows the digestive system down. A bagel contains a high carbohydrate load and speeds up the digestive process and causes the blood sugars to rise quickly.
In other words when you eat a food source that has a high glycemic value index, the food should be complimented with a protein source in order to slow the digestive process down. If you have a slice of toast with butter and peanut butter the one food will compliment the other. It is rather simple to understand once you grasp the concept you will be able to list foods and their glycemic index with ease. The glycemic index is used most by diabetics as well as people wanting to lose weight.
What is the purpose of a glycemic index? This type of index ranks foods based upon the effect they have on a person's blood sugar levels. Carbohydrates that digest quickly have the highest GI. The blood sugar response is high and fast. Carbohydrates that digest slowly release glucose slowly into the blood stream and these foods have a low GI.
The significance of a low glycemic value is that your blood sugars rise slowly and helps to control severe spikes in Type II diabetics. One can also lower their blood lipids and lose weight on a low GI diet. The GI index has been known to improve the body's sensitivity to insulin as well as re fuel carbohydrates after exercise.
Once you fully understand the concept you will be able to list foods and their glycemic index and switch over to a low index diet with ease. Before participating in any sort of diet it is advisable to consult with your medical practitioner or a dietician especially if you are diabetic or have any other health problems.

Family Situations that Put Children at High Risk for Sexual Abuse- 15 Types
It is difficult to provide round the clock security for a child against sexual abuse, however certain family situations have been found to expose the child to avoidable dangers. Parents would be doing a lot to prevent sexual abuse of their children if they avoid the following family situations:
- A home situation where children are starved of love and so have to depend on outsiders to meet their emotional needs. Parents that are harsh, hypercritical and not demonstrative of love may leave their children vulnerable to child molesters who pretend to offer them what they cannot get at home.
- Absence of moral instructions in the home does not equip the child with the resources to know what is bad and evil.
- Single parent families where a single parent fends for the family and would have to leave the children under the care of others while at work. A child molester can cash in on this situation.
- A family bedeviled by conflicts will not have coordinated plans to prevent child molestation. A child might have a feeling of being alienated or abandoned as a result of incessant family strife. - A single mother with children could be befriended by a child molester whose aim in the relationship is to have access to her children. Such a mother should not lower her guards until she is sure of the motives of her new friend.
- A family with a huge traffic of visitors can be vulnerable because there are no external marks on a child molester that will enable you recognize him or her. It is good not to throw your doors wide open to persons you know very little about.
- A family with children that have not been taught what is “acceptable and decent touching” distinct from “indecent touching’. Children must be taught the difference between decent play and indecent play.
- A family where children are inhibited in their relationship with their parents and cannot discuss intimate issues freely with their parents.
- Parents who are preoccupied with watching sexually explicit movies and tolerate pornography in the home put their children at home at risk for sexual molestation. The children from observing these movies come to accept acts displayed in them as normal.
- Parents who do not talk about sex abuse with their children because they feel uncomfortable with the topic leave them at the mercy of sex offenders.
- Parents who have not taught their children to have a high index of suspicion of adults who show unusual personal interests in them and lavish gifts on them.
- Poor parental supervision will not provide opportunities to enable their child tell them what he or she is going through. Parents who are always absent from home without adult presence leaves them at the mercy of child predators.
- Drug or alcohol abuse by parents will make them emotionally unavailable to listen to their children or to take measures to protect their children.
- Parental illness has a destabilizing effect on the family and may not make them available for their children.
- Living in a neighbourhood that has many registered sex offenders puts the child at risk for sexual molestation.

Should I order high index lenses for a prescription of -3 & -2.75?
I've heard that the quality of high index isn't so good and am concerned that they might look stronger. If I don't order high index though will the lenses look thick?
You didn't hear that from a reliable source. Hi Index is very good quality optics. It is the polycarbonate that is not as good in the higher powers.
But at your power, Polycarbonate would be fine , it is a mid index lens. Personally, I would go with 1.6 hi index with anti reflection.
