Anyone know anything about floppy drives?
I live in Thailand, so on line support is not an option. Here's the problems; 1. If I insert a disk into the drive to retrieve data I get a pop-up that reads - "the disk is not formatted, do you want to format it now?" If I put a blank diskette in the drive and try to format it, I get a different pop-up that reads = "the disk cannot be formatted". After checking the help folder, and device manager,, I get the message "this device is working properly" What's wrong here?
I have a HP Pavilion a12541 pc
Floppy drive = FDCGENERIC_FLOPPY_Drive5&14731D5B&0&0
Its a common problem with floppy disk nowadays, first, is the floppy disk a new one or a used disk. If it is a used disk, maybe it is already damaged or Unusable. Or take note of the disk capacity, check if it is compatible with your floppy drive (1.44 HD etc). If the disk is new and the capacity is compatible with your drive, maybe you should consider in buying a new drive because maybe it is already broke and malfunctioning, and it may also damage your other floppy disk and lose your file.
Good Luck!
