Can anyone help with my Firearm Headspace problem?
I recently purchased a Romanian PSL 54C. Then I bought clymer gauges to check headspace. After removing extracter and firing pin I tried using them, but the bolt won't close on either gauge but will close on a live cartridge. The handle seems to stop about a half inch before meeting receiver, like the bolt doesn't want to turn all the way. But it does close all the way on a live cartridge. Anyone have any solutions?
If you seriously believe you have a problem, you should have the rifle checked out by a trained 'smith, who knows how to use gauges properly. Improper head spacing could cause some real, if not dangerous problems, including catastrophic chamber failure and destruction of the weapon, and serious injury to the shooter.
