What do I need to set up an Xbox 360 for online play (and what is ethernet by the way)?
I don't know shit about this so i got some questions:
what's the difference between arcade version and regular?
what are all the cables i need to get to connect it to the internet (and what the hell is ethernet)?
basically, what are all the components i need to start playing besides the console (example: hard drive, adapter, etc...) and what's it gonna cost?
umm...im gonna answer quickly cause i am really tired so sorry about the quality.
The arcade is cheaper (it costs $199) because it has a 256MB hard drive so if you want to download movies or games or videos or demos then you essentially won't be able to unless you get a regular or premium or whatever. Also some games require you to install them so that takes up space too, usually around 5GB i think. And your save data has to fit on there too, so if you are a serious gamer then don't get the Arcade.
You can buy a regular 360 (premium) for $299 which includes a 60GB hard drive which should be enough for most people, or there is the Elite which includes a 120GB hard drive for $399.
To connect it to the internet you can either use an ethernet cable, or a wireless router. Just google ethernet cable to see what it is, look at images and you should recognize it, it plugs into your computer and gives you internet access, the 360 will come with one. To connect wirelessly you will need to buy a wireless adapter for the 360 which is $100, so add that onto whichever one you want to get if you need a wireless connection. To play online you also need to pay a subscription fee for Xbox live which costs $50 a year i think, though it comes with a free month or something i think.
anyway, if you are at all thinking about getting a PS3, I will include a link to an answer I gave to someone else comparing the PS3 and the 360 in the sources (my answer is the really long one)
I'm sorry, I have a PS3, so I don't know that much about 360.
Hope I helped:]
InfoWorld review: Dell PowerConnect 8024F hits 10G paydirt
Ah, the rarified air of 10G switching, very fast, very expensive, very exclusive -- until now. Dell has unveiled a 24-port 10G switch that, priced at $10,088, comes in at around $416 per SFP+ port. Now that's cheap.
