As seasons change, the need for heat changes. During summer, you particularly do not want to use heaters that much as it keeps body temp high causing you to sweet and feel uncomfortably hot in your own homes. But during cold seasons, ah; bet you would definitely be using much of your heaters high to keep your homes comfortable at all times.
There is nothing wrong with wanting enough heat during cold seasons. It is basically a human necessity. The only problem is when heating homes become an expensive expenditure.
Utility bills usually rise up during winter. There is no doubt about it as more people have increasing demands for heat. The colder the environment will be the more heat is needed. But if your bills are way high, at the same time you are not getting the right amount of heat optimally, then you should do something about your homes. It is time to seal it up to keep the heat inside during winter.
Holes, gaps, compression and voids are present in your home and you may not know that they exist unless you investigate further. If you take the rising electricity bills, the constant manipulation of the thermostat to increase heat and frequent experience of heaters breaking down and replacement as cues, you will definitely see that the problems above exist in your homes. These causes air to leak outside your homes rather than staying in. This could even create a chimney effect wherein hot air gets displaced by cold air as it exits through your attic (where air usually escapes from the house).
So what to do? Three things to bear in mind: Insulate, caulk and weatherstrip. These three things will help you seal your homes to keep hot air in during winter.
Sealing homes is very important as this helps you heat your homes efficiently. Air is prevented from escaping your house and as a result, it lessens your energy consumption. It also helps you lessen the workload of your equipment, which prolongs its life and which allows you to save more money.
Insulation
Quality insulation of homes can be achieved if the right material is used and if the right insulation is properly installed. As to material, it should have high resistance to heat flow and you will know this if it has a high R-value. As for insulation techniques, different methods should be applied for various areas in your homes. For example, batt insulation is used for studs and beams. Blown in are best for attics and wall cavities. You just have to ensure that gaps are properly filled if not, the insulation would still be useless.
Caulking
This sealing process involves sealing pipes and joints. A certain type of compound is used to cover or fill in gaps to prevent air escape from happening. There are different materials that can be used. However, one has to use the right caulking compound for a particular building material. This ensures that the compound adhesion remains excellent and long-lasting.
Weatherstripping
Hot air leaks because of your windows and doors. This becomes more possible during winter season. That if it is not properly weatherized. To do so, one must ensure that proper weatherstripping materials will be installed on these openings to keep air sealed and prevent easy escape.

Home A/C Vent Temp Issue?
Had a house inspection on my house that I am selling. All vents registered a temp of around 53 degrees, except for the 2 vents in the master which reported temps of 62.
The duct work for the master goes comes down through the ceiling, our house is two stories and there is a large attic area above our master that these ducts run through. Additionally, these are probably the two longest runs from the main downstairs unit. My thoughts are this is why the temp is different. The inspector thought it might be a crimped duct run, but I'm not sure. Anyone have any thoughts on what else might cause this?
trace those ducts back to the plenum you will see they are not at the end of plenum or worse there tapped right off the evap coil no static pressure nothing to do with the system if your getting 53 out of some alot of stupid installers out there they do it all the time no concept on a correctly installed system its all in the plenum and duct work
