Weezer - Deluxe Edition List Price: $29.98 Sale Price: $14.50 |
|
Weezer was one of the unlikeliest success stories of the post-Nirvana alt. rock boom, a band whose initial multi-platinum success (spawning the successful singles "Buddy Holly," "Undone," and "Say It Ain't So" and high-profile videos by Spike Jonze in its wake) was arguably its most ironic aspect. Indeed, the band's geek-appeal was refreshingly organic, a charm that came sharply into focus on leader Rivers Cuomo's painfully sincere, slice-of-loser-life songs and the energetic, pop-grunge confections the band concocted around them. This deluxe, double-disc edition of one of the '90s key rock albums treats the original collection's 10 tracks to a new, 24-bit digital remastering, as well as insightful liner notes and the reproductions of the songs original, often scrawled lyric sheets. But it's the second disc that will hold the greatest appeal to Weezer fans, gathering 14 tracks that encompass import b-sides and outtakes that include winsome, affectionate odes ("Mykel and Carli," "Suzanne," "Jamie") aimed at everyone from the band's friends to its label personnel and lawyer. Other highlights include the oddball barbershop quartet exercise "My Evaline," several live and acoustic cuts from the album's tour as well a handful of insightful, previously unreleased home and studio demos. --Jerry McCulley All products are BRAND NEW and factory sealed. With this game, Cinderella fans ages 5 and older can design their heroine's living spaces, print out especially well-decorated rooms, and experiment with a new variation on the age-old pastime of playing with dolls. Disney's Cinderella Dollhouse is really a basic paint program posing as a watered-down version of The Sims. Players decorate Cinderella's kitchen, bedroom, and ballroom, but instead of adorning each empty space with flat images, girls choose from a gallery of interactive objects. What does this mean? Put a flute in Cinderella's hand and she will actually play it; give her a tray of cupcakes and she will offer them to everyone in the room. Adding different characters to the mix will change what they do and say. Girls can thus create scenes where the wicked stepsisters argue, or--by swapping the cast around--they can induce the Prince to make a declaration of love to Cinderella. The number of possible combinations is respectably large, and Disney provides a monthly download of additional objects to keep gameplay from getting stale. Unfortunately, this game is something of a one-trick pony. Unlike an adult-oriented simulator, the characters' prerecorded responses to game objects are controlled by very simple rules. There are no deviations from the basic Cinderella script, girls cannot create their own characters, and ultimately, the animations don't disguise the fact that this is just another clip art gallery with new bells and whistles. Even with the game updates, older girls will outgrow the dollhouse swiftly. What's more, occasional sound glitches and a long introduction sequence--which can't be skipped--make the process of getting started tedious. That said, the game does have appealing graphics and expands nicely on the concept of an electronic sticker book--an activity that is usually tossed into other games as a poorly executed afterthought. For younger girls who are fond of this particular fairy tale, or who have already shown that they enjoy decoration-themed programs, Disney's Cinderella Dollhouse makes a good selection. --Alyx Dellamonica Disney's Cinderella's Dollhouse is a magical place where kids canplay and decorate the dollhouse of their dreams with Cinderella and all herfriends. Kids can decorate six different rooms, from the chateau Cinderella shares with her stepmother and stepsisters to the lavish palace where she meets her handsome prince. There are hundreds of accessories and millions of possible combinations, as well as numerous animated surprises. And once thefinal touch is in place, kids can wave a magic wand to bring the charactersto life, causing Cinderella and the other characters to play in the completeddollhouse. |

Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Episodes I-VI) [Blu-ray] List Price: $139.99 Sale Price: $83.75 |

Relive the unforgettable moments and experience the spectacular adventure of STAR WARS The Complete Saga in a way only Blu-ray can deliver. This incredible collection unites all six Episodes together for the frst time in stunning high definition with the purest digital sound in the galaxy. With over 40 hours of thrilling special features, including all-new content created exclusively for this release, you can journey deeper into the Star Wars universe and discover more than ever before. Feel the Force of STAR WARS The Complete Saga on Blu-ray!Product Measures: 1.5 x 5.5 x 7.5 Episode I, The Phantom Menace "I have a bad feeling about this," says the young Obi-Wan Kenobi (played by Ewan McGregor) in Star Wars: Episode I, The Phantom Menace as he steps off a spaceship and into the most anticipated cinematic event... well, ever. He might as well be speaking for the legions of fans of the original episodes in the Star Wars saga who can't help but secretly ask themselves: Sure, this is Star Wars, but is it my Star Wars? The original elevated moviegoers' expectations so high that it would have been impossible for any subsequent film to meet them. And as with all the Star Wars movies, The Phantom Menace features inexplicable plot twists, a fistful of loose threads, and some cheek-chewing dialogue. Han Solo's swagger is sorely missed, as is the pervading menace of heavy-breather Darth Vader. There is still way too much quasi-mystical mumbo jumbo, and some of what was fresh about Star Wars 22 years earlier feels formulaic. Yet there's much to admire. The special effects are stupendous; three worlds are populated with a mélange of creatures, flora, and horizons rendered in absolute detail. The action and battle scenes are breathtaking in their complexity. And one particular sequence of the film--the adrenaline-infused pod race through the Tatooine desert--makes the chariot race in Ben-Hur look like a Sunday stroll through the park. Among the host of new characters, there are a few familiar walk-ons. We witness the first meeting between R2-D2 and C-3PO, Jabba the Hutt looks younger and slimmer (but not young and slim), and Yoda is as crabby as ever. Natalie Portman's stately Queen Amidala sports hairdos that make Princess Leia look dowdy and wields a mean laser. We never bond with Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson), and Obi-Wan's day is yet to come. Jar Jar Binks, a cross between a Muppet, a frog, and a hippie, provides many of the movie's lighter moments, while Sith Lord Darth Maul is a formidable force. Baby-faced Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) looks too young and innocent to command the powers of the Force or wield a lightsaber (much less transmute into the future Darth Vader), but his boyish exuberance wins over skeptics. Near the end of the movie, Palpatine, the new leader of the Republic, may be speaking for fans eagerly awaiting Episode II when he pats young Anakin on the head and says, "We will watch your career with great interest." Indeed! --Tod Nelson Episode II, Attack of the Clones If The Phantom Menace was the setup, then Attack of the Clones is the plot-progressing payoff, and devoted Star Wars fans are sure to be enthralled. Ten years after Episode I, Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman), now a senator, resists the creation of a Republic Army to combat an evil separatist movement. The brooding Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) is resentful of his stern Jedi mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), tormented by personal loss, and showing his emerging "dark side" while protecting his new love, Amidala, from would-be assassins. Youthful romance and solemn portent foreshadow the events of the original Star Wars as Count Dooku (a.k.a. Darth Tyranus, played by Christopher Lee) forges an alliance with the Dark Lord of the Sith, while lavish set pieces showcase George Lucas's supreme command of all-digital filmmaking. All of this makes Episode II a technological milestone, savaged by some critics as a bloated, storyless spectacle, but still qualifying as a fan-approved precursor to the pivotal events of Episode III. --Jeff Shannon Episode III, Revenge of the Sith Ending the most popular film epic in history, Star Wars: Episode III, Revenge of the Sith is an exciting, uneven, but ultimately satisfying journey. Picking up the action from Episode II, Attack of the Clones as well as the animated Clone Wars series, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), pursue General Grievous into space after the droid kidnapped Supreme Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid). It's just the latest maneuver in the ongoing Clone Wars between the Republic and the Separatist forces led by former Jedi turned Sith Lord Count Dooku (Christopher Lee). On another front, Master Yoda (voiced by Frank Oz) leads the Republic's clone troops against a droid attack on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. All this is in the first half of Episode III, which feels a lot like Episodes I and II. That means spectacular scenery, dazzling dogfights in space, a new fearsome villain (the CGI-created Grievous can't match up to either Darth Maul or the original Darth Vader, though), lightsaber duels, groan-worthy romantic dialogue, goofy humor (but at least it's left to the droids instead of Jar-Jar Binks), and hordes of faceless clone troopers fighting hordes of faceless battle droids. But then it all changes. After setting up characters and situations for the first two and a half movies, Episode III finally comes to life. The Sith Lord in hiding unleashes his long-simmering plot to take over the Republic, and an integral part of that plan is to turn Anakin away from the Jedi and toward the Dark Side of the Force. Unless you've been living under a rock the last 10 years, you know that Anakin will transform into the dreaded Darth Vader and face an ultimate showdown with his mentor, but that doesn't matter. In fact, a great part of the fun is knowing where things will wind up but finding out how they'll get there. The end of this prequel trilogy also should inspire fans to want to see the original movies again, but this time not out of frustration at the new ones. Rather, because Episode III is a beginning as well as an end, it will trigger fond memories as it ties up threads to the originals in tidy little ways. But best of all, it seems like for the first time we actually care about what happens and who it happens to. Episode III is easily the best of the new trilogy--OK, so that's not saying much, but it might even jockey for third place among the six Star Wars films. It's also the first one to be rated PG-13 for the intense battles and darker plot. It was probably impossible to live up to the decades' worth of pent-up hype George Lucas faced for the Star Wars prequel trilogy (and he tried to lower it with the first two movies), but Episode III makes us once again glad to be "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away." --David Horiuchi Star Wars: The Original Trilogy (Episodes IV - VI) The Star Wars trilogy had the rare distinction of becoming more than just a series of movies, but a cultural phenomenon, a life-defining event for its generation. On its surface, George Lucas's original 1977 film is a rollicking and humorous space fantasy that owes debts to more influences than one can count on two hands, but filmgoers became entranced by its basic struggle of good vs. evil "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away," its dazzling special effects, and a mythology of Jedi Knights, the Force, and droids. In the first film, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) gets to live out every boy's dream: ditch the farm and rescue a princess (Carrie Fisher). Accompanied by the roguish Han Solo (Harrison Ford, the only principal who was able to cross over into stardom) and trained by Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness), Luke finds himself involved in a galactic war against the Empire and the menacing Darth Vader (David Prowse, voiced by James Earl Jones). The following film, The Empire Strikes Back (1980), takes a darker turn as the tiny rebellion faces an overwhelming onslaught. Directed by Irvin Kershner instead of Lucas, Empire is on the short list of Best Sequels Ever, marked by fantastic settings (the ice planet, the cloud city), the teachings of Yoda, a dash of grown-up romance, and a now-classic "revelation" ending. The final film of the trilogy, Return of the Jedi (1983, directed by Richard Marquand), is the most uneven. While the visual effects had taken quantum leaps over the years, resulting in thrilling speeder chases and space dogfights, the story is an uneasy mix of serious themes (Luke's maturation as a Jedi, the end of the Empire-rebellion showdown) and the cuddly teddy bears known as the Ewoks. Years later, George Lucas transformed his films into "special editions" by adding new scenes and special effects, which were greeted mostly by shrugs from fans. They were perfectly happy with the films they had grown up with (who cares if Greedo shot first?), and thus disappointed by Lucas's decision to make the special editions the only versions available. --David Horiuchi DVD & Blu-ray Versions of Star Wars Star Wars Trilogy (Widescreen Edition with Bonus Disc) Star Wars Trilogy (Widescreen Edition Without Bonus Disc) Star Wars Trilogy Star Wars Prequel Trilogy Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy (Episodes I - III) [Blu-ray] Star Wars: The Original Trilogy (Episodes IV - VI) [Blu-ray] Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Episodes I-VI) [Blu-ray] Release Date September 21, 2004 December 6, 2005 November 4, 2008 November 4, 2008 September 16, 2011 September 16, 2011 September 16, 2011 Format/Disc # DVD (4 Discs) DVD (3 Discs) DVD (6 Discs) DVD (6 Discs) Blu-ray (3 Discs) Blu-ray (3 Discs) Blu-ray (9 Discs) + 16 page booklet Blu-ray 3D No No No No No No No Blu-ray No No No No Yes Yes Yes DVD Yes Yes Yes Yes No No No Digital Copy No No No No No No No Original Theatrical Version No No Yes Yes No No No Bonus Features Star Wars, Episode IV: Commentary by George Lucas, Ben Burtt, Dennis Muren, and Carrie Fisher Star Wars, Episode V: Commentary by George Lucas, Irvin Kershner, Ben Burtt, Dennis Muren, and Carrie Fisher Bonus Disc: All-new bonus features, including the most comprehensive feature-length documentary ever produced on the Star Wars saga, and never-before-seen footage from the making of all three films "Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy" Featurettes: The Legendary Creatures of Star Wars, The Birth of the Lightsaber, The Legacy of Star Wars Teasers, Trailers, TV spots, Still GalleriesPlayable Xbox demo of the new Lucasarts game Star Wars BattlefrontThe making of the Episode III videogameExclusive preview of Star Wars: Episode III Star Wars Episode IV: Commentary by George Lucas, Ben Burtt, Dennis Muren, and Carrie Fisher Star Wars Episode V: Commentary by George Lucas, Irvin Kershner, Ben Burtt, Dennis Muren, and Carrie Fisher None Star Wars, Episode I: Commentary by George Lucas and companyStar Wars, Episode II: From Puppets to PixelsState of the Art: Previsualization of Episode II8 deleted scenes with introsMusic VideoVisual Specs Breakdown12 Web Documentaries4 Trailers12 TV SpotsEaster EggStill Galleries DVD-ROM links Star Wars, Episode I: Audio Commentary with George Lucas, Rick McCallum, Ben Burtt, Rob Coleman, John Knoll, Dennis Muren and Scott Squires, Audio Commentary from Archival Interviews with Cast and Crew Star Wars, Episode II: Audio Commentary with George Lucas, Rick McCallum, Ben Burtt, Rob Coleman, Pablo Helman, John Knoll and Ben Snow, Audio Commentary from Archival Interviews with Cast and Crew Star Wars, Episode III: Audio Commentary with George Lucas, Rick McCallum, Rob Coleman, John Knoll and Roger Guyett Audio Commentary from Archival Interviews with Cast and Crew Star Wars, Episode IV: Audio Commentary with George Lucas, Carrie Fisher, Ben Burtt and Dennis Muren Audio Commentary from Archival Interviews with Cast and Crew Star Wars, Episode V: Audio Commentary with George Lucas, Irvin Kershner, Carrie Fisher, Ben Burtt and Dennis Muren Audio Commentary from Archival Interviews with Cast and Crew Star Wars, Episode VI: Audio Commentary with George Lucas, Carrie Fisher, Ben Burtt and Dennis Muren, > Audio Commentary from Archival Interviews with Cast and Crew Same as Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy (Episodes I-III) [Blu-ray] and Star Wars: The Original Trilogy (Episodes IV-VI) [Blu-ray] plus: New! The Muppets (Three-Disc Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy + Soundtrack Download Card) List Price: $49.99 Sale Price: $25.00 |
|
Movies attempting to retrieve cherished nuggets of pop culture often stumble, either by appealing solely to the die-hard minutia enthusiasts or clunking up the batter with unnecessary additions to the base material. (Enough with the human love triangles, get to the giant robots fighting.) Thankfully, this revival of Jim Henson's beloved characters gets the formula delightfully right, providing a googly-eyed nostalgia trip for adults while also retaining the original's sense of bright (and mildly subversive) wonder. All that's missing is a cameo from Shields and Yarnell, really. Kicking off with a boffo musical number, the story follows Walter (voice of Peter Linz), a small-town boy with a uniquely personal affection for the long-retired Muppets. (OK, he's made of felt.) Teaming up with his brother (Jason Segel, who also co-scripted) and the local schoolteacher (Amy Adams), they attempt to get Kermit, Fozzie, and the gang back together in order to save their studio from an evil oil baron (Chris Cooper, going all in). Director James Bobin (Flight of the Conchords) does a marvelous job of updating and honoring his material, weaving sly references to days gone by (the contents of Kermit's rolodex are a particular delight) into the mix of songs, celebrity cameos, and barn-broad puns that gave the original show its bubbly kick. (Fans of Animal and the Chickens will not go home disappointed.) Even the moments that don't quite work land with a cornball brio that feels wholly of a piece with Henson's universe. The result is a true family movie that still brings on the blissful, uncomplicated grins days after viewing. No matter what Statler and/or Waldorf might say, the show goes on. --Andrew Wright Related Products Amazon's Disney Store Amazon's Muppets Store More Muppets in Movies & TV Versions of The Muppets on Blu-ray and DVD The Muppets The Muppets (Single-Disc DVD + Soundtrack Download Card) The Muppets (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) The Muppets (Three-Disc Combo: Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy + Soundtrack Download Card) Release Date March 20, 2012 March 20, 2012 March 20, 2012 March 20, 2012 Format/Disc # DVD DVD + Soundtrack Download Card Blu-ray, DVD Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Copy + Soundtrack Download Card Blu-ray No No Yes Yes DVD Yes Yes Yes Yes Digital Copy No No No Yes Bonus Features None DVD Feature Film+ BonusDigital Full-Length Original SoundtrackThe Longest Blooper Reel Ever Made (In Muppet History**) Blu-ray Feature Film + BonusDVD Feature Film+ BonusScratching the Surface: A Hasty Examination of The Making of The MuppetsA Little Screen Test on the Way to the Read ThroughExplaining Evil: The Full Tex Richman Song Deleted ScenesAudio CommentaryDisney IntermissionThe Longest Blooper Reel Ever Made (In Muppet History**) Same as The Muppets (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) plus:Digital CopyDigital Full-Length Original Soundtrack With the famed puppet troupe's heyday behind them, it's up to young Muppet Walter, his human brother Gary (Jason Segel, who also co-wrote), and Gary's girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams) to bring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and the rest of the gang back together in order to put on a show and save the Muppet Theater from a greedy oil baron (Chris Cooper). Archer: Season 1 List Price: $29.98 Sale Price: $15.65 |
|
All 10 episodes of season one--including "Mole Hunt," "Diversity Hire," "Honeypot," "Skorpio," and "Job Offer"--are featured in this two-disc set. 3 2/3 hrs. total. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles: English (SDH), Spanish, French; "making of" featurette; deleted scenes; unaired pilot. **10 episodes on 2 discs. 3 2/3 hrs.** Smart, literate, cheeky, profane, and frequently laugh-out-loud funny, Archer is one of the hippest animated comedies to come along in some time. That's hip in a retro kind of way; writer-producers Adam Reed and Matt Thompson, whose previous collaborations include Frisky Dingo and Sealab 2021 (both also animated, and both seen on the Adult Swim channel), have given these 10 first-season episodes a secret-agent vibe straight out of the Sean Connery James Bond '60s. At center stage is Sterling Archer (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin), top agent for an outfit known as ISIS, which just happens to be headed by his domineering, sex-starved mother, Malory (Jessica Walter). Others on the team include agent Lana Kane (Aisha Tyler), Sterling's once and no doubt future lover, nerdy company comptroller Cyril Figgis (Chris Parnell), Lana's current boyfriend, and some colorful supporting characters. But this is mostly about Sterling, who, in addition to his fancy spy chops, is an irresponsible liar, ne'er-do-well, and wastrel (he spends an entire episode breaking into the agency's mainframe so he can blame someone else for his outrageous expenses). His missions, in which he's often joined by Lana (the better to hurl flirtatious epithets at one another), are fairly stock: Cuban missile submarines off the Florida coast; an arms dealer peddling stolen weapons; a bomb threat on a luxury airship. And the animation, while effective, is limited and unlikely to remind anyone of a Pixar movie. It's the writing that really makes this show shine, as Reed and Thompson revel in an unending stream of hilarious puns, insults, and bons mots: a shirt retrieved from an Indian dry cleaner "smells like Indira Gandhi's thong," karate is "the Dane Cook of martial arts," a particularly bloody shootout is "a Charles Whitman sampler." It's definitely not for kids, but Archer is a hoot. Extras include a version of the pilot episode with an "alternate" lead character, and an interesting making-of featurette. --Sam Graham |

Where can I find a utlity to transfer installed software applications from one disk drive to another?
I have a number of installed software applications on my C: drive that I do not use regularly and I want to move them to another hard disk drive with more space. I remember Partition Magic had a utility to move installed software applications, but when I recently looked, I could not the function. I does not appear as part of the Norton Distribution.
I have looked at Laplink, but that is more suited to transferring installed software applications from one computer to another.
As a result, can some suggest a utility that I can purchase to do this?
You can simply use norton ghost. so you can make same copy of your harddisk to another harddisk or one partation to another partation.
Norton Ghost is a great utility to copy everything(installed) from a small/big hard drive to another big/small harddrive, but you have to use it carefully because if you done mistake to choose source and destination then you will be screwwwwed up.
Application Mover is a tool that relocates installed programs from one path to another on your hard disk. Application Mover takes files found in the path specified in the 'Current Path' field (see below) and moves them to the 'New Path' path. Application Mover scans the windows registry for references to files located in the 'Current' field and changes those references to the 'New' path. Application Mover also scans all windows shortcuts in the Start Menu and adjusts path references to the new program location. Finally, *.ini and Install.log files present in the original program path are checked for strings matching the old path location. If found, these strings are changed to the new location.
