Why Brand Is Always Best When You Buy Ink Cartridges
If the reliability of your printers to complete your work to a high standard, on time and on budget is of any significance to your business, then don't take chances with your ink cartridges. It's simply not worth it. When the question is whether to use a brand name ink cartridge or a refill, there really is only one answer that makes business sense. Always insist on brand name ink cartridges.
It's not just your reputation at stake, it's your bank balance too. Printers are expensive, and maintaining and repairing printers is a costly pursuit. Ask yourself this ? do you want to protect your investment in your printers? Of course ? so always make sure that you use a brand name ink cartridge. Don't threaten the health of your machines with inferior quality inks. Original inks are almost always of better quality, while the quality of the ink contained in non-branded refills can vary widely.
You never really know what you are going to get with a refill ? in effect you are playing Russian Roulette the life of your printer. The consistency, weight and flow of the ink all vary greatly and can drastically affect both print quality and the printer itself. Don't clog up your printer or damage print heads with poor quality ink. Take the assurance and the confidence offered by a brand willing to put their name next to their OEM ink cartridges - cartridges designed and manufactured with the express intention of being used in their own machines.
Sure, you want to spend as little as you need to on ink cartridges but you also need quality too - you want value for money. It's simply a false economy (if an economy at all) to think that by saving a pound here or a pound there by using non-branded refills, you are doing you or your business any favours. The likelihood of a problem as a direct consequence of poor quality ink is too great to take chances with. There are countless tales of printer owners looking to side step original manufactured inks and coming to grief with endless technical problems. Damage to their printers caused by cheap and poor quality ink is stressful, expensive and simply not worth it. The refill option is a hassle, time consuming and messy. It will hardly even save you any money such are the ultra competitive prices now available on all the branded ink cartridges. Just take a look online to see all the names available at massive discounts. Use a reputable supplier of branded ink for all you ink cartridge requirements. It's without doubt the easiest option.
There are other implications that relate to the maintenance and warranty cover on your printer. It's more than likely that if your printer is under warranty and you use ink cartridges other than those from recommended brands, the manufacturer could void your warranty and blame the printer problems on the third party cartridges. By running diagnostics it is possible to tell whether ink cartridges other than branded cartridges have been used.
If you need your printers to be reliable business workhorses that you can turn to without question marks concerning either print quality or dependability then always use brand name ink cartridges. Not only are they kinder to your printer, they are kinder to your reputation, your wallet (certainly in the long run) and they won't jeopardise any existing warranties.

Printer cartridge is a dud?
When I purchased my HP printer two years ago, it included a color cartridge and a black cartridge. Well, the black will not work anymore, (indicator states it's more than 1/2 full). The coloured cartridge still works fine.
I have asked for help from HP but they said I'd have to reinstall a brand new cartridge. That means I'll be stuck with one more than 1/2 full.
Are there any tricks to getting it to work? I've cleaned the heads in the printer, cleaned the cartridge itself and done diagnostic tests but nothing works.
I'll try warming it up.

The status monitor saying hlaf full is just a guess.
Chances are that if you are on your trial cartridges after 2 years, you are empty.
Another option is that because you don't print very often your print head may be dry.
Either way - you do need to replace that cartridge.
Avacta set for growth
