Unlike the RAM, which stores unimportant temporary files, a hard drive stores files that matter to you. Every time you save a word document, pictures, movies, etc, they are stored on your hard drive. The amount of storage the hard drive has is measured in GB, which means the higher the GBs the more information you can store.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why my tv and my computer cpu have started ticking?
They are both in separate rooms and not linked, but if I turn off the computer the tv stops ticking, but not the other way around!
What exactly do you mean by "ticking", like actually making a ticking sound?
Cause that sounds like it could be pretty bad. To me, I think something went horribly wrong on your mother board and something is shorting or otherwise creating A LOT of EMI and effecting the TV. Ever notice that when you have your TV turned on and then you turn on a vaccuum in the house, the TV gets a lot of static? Pretty much the same thing.
Take your computer to a computer repair shop, or if you have the skills, replace the motherboard and CPU.
