Computer Clean

Okay - it's that time of the year already. It's time to overhaul your computer, take stock of what files you need to backup, any hardware that you may want to change or may need to be replaced, software packages that need to be upgraded and software packages that you may want to remove from your computer because you no longer use them.
In short, it's time to clean up your computer. While this may seem like sheer drudgery to you and a waste of valuable computer time, it is really necessary. I know that you may probably consider time spent playing your favorite computer game more productive and entertaining, but trust me on this; this is something you just should not avoid.
Here are some tips that can make cleaning up your computer less of drudgery and more of something that happens in the background. This way, you won't be twiddling your thumbs while your computer is being cleaned - you would get your work done and you would still get to clean up your computer.
Tip 1: Review the software installed on your computer. Update applications if required. You need to remove unused software by uninstalling it. Uninstalling unused software frees up resources on your computer. This can help in speeding up the applications you use on your computer as these may be running in the background even when you don't want them.
Tip 2: Backup unwanted or outdated data files present in folders like 'My Documents' and media files on permanent storage media like CD-ROMS or DVD-ROMS. Delete these files from your disk. This can help you organize your hard disk better while freeing up space on the hard disk.
Tip 3: Most time-intensive tasks such as disk scan and virus checks of the file system can be scheduled to run at a time when you are sleeping or out for a movie. The scheduling could be manual or inbuilt in the software. Most of these applications require your input only at the end and they will wait until you are ready to decide what is to be done. One word of caution here - make sure there is backup available in case of power failure, or else you will have to start all over again.
Tip 4: Run the disk de-fragment utility just before you leave for the day. De-fragmenting hard disks can take a long time and the process needs continuous power. You should make sure there is backup power available.
Note: It is better to perform uninstalls and backup before you run the defragmenter. If you de-fragment the hard disk and then uninstall programs or delete data files, you end up with a fragmented disk again.
Tip 5: This is a very important step - you should run a registry cleaner. A registry cleaner will fix errors in the registry and could make your computer faster. This step should be the last one in your schedule to clean up your computer.
This way the errors in the registry will be corrected and there will be no chances of further errors until your install/uninstall fresh software.
With these tips, you can be sure of cleaning up your computer efficiently without having to backtrack and repeat steps.
Computer Clean Up â How To Clean Up A Computer Quickly
Are you in need of a computer clean up? You have come to the right place. As your CPU gets older there is more wear and tear on the system. You may start getting computer errors like RUNDLL or a Windows blue screen. Perhaps your computer is acting very sluggish and you have been asking yourself “why is my computer so slowâ€. Well I have the solution for you. Learning how to clean up your computer has never been this easy.
First off do not think you have to buy new equipment or pay for expensive upgrades. Often times people freak out when their computer is underperforming and think it is automatically time for a new one. Of course when you bring it to the computer technician he will probably tell you the same because he just wants you to spend money.
But the truth is most of the time all you need is a full system computer clean up. There are numerous techniques to do, but my recommendation is to use software that can completely automate the task for you.
First off you want to eliminate unnecessary startup programs. Every time you install a new program it wants to automatically launch when you boot up your computer. Sometimes they will do so without asking permission and simply hide in the background. This will cause your computer to run sluggishly, as all of your valuable RAM is eaten up. Your computer may also have a very slow startup. A great piece of cleaning software will identify these programs and eliminate them.
Perhaps the most important step you can make to clean up computer problems is fixing the Windows registry. This is an overlooked area of your computer that needs constant maintenance to ensure your system runs efficiently. There can be literally hundreds of Windows computer errors mucking things up that you may not know about.
In order to fix the registry and perform a complete computer clean up, you will need specialized software. I personally use software that will scan and diagnose exactly what is wrong with your system. It will also offer various solutions to clean up your computer and have it operate  at full capacity. Try it out for free below.

How would I completely wipe my computer clean but still keep the windows operating system?
I have an eMachines T6212 that I don't use and was going to donate. How would I wipe everything off it but still keep Windows XP? I don't have an XP disc to reinstall it since it was already on the computer when I bought it. I do have the recovery discs that came with it.
Run system restore to restore it to the point of when it was first installed, windows xp should have that option, start menu > accessories > system tools
