Once you have decided to create a website for your book store, you need to think up a clever name for your website, because all book stores have them. If you don't, people won't think that you are a stuffy and snooty book lover and they won't shop at your online store. So you need to have name like "The Book Cellar" or "Novels and Novelties." Except for that you can't take those two because I was planning on using them myself; but let's get back to your website.
A website is a way to develop your own superior, pseudo-intellectual knowledge of books and intimidate non-intellectual people into buying them. For booksellers, being aloof and smug is half the fun of selling books. You can't do that on eBay. People there will only buy your books for as cheap as possible so they can sell them on their snooty online bookstore with a clever name; maybe even cleverer than yours.
Upset? You should be. Every self-respecting book lover should have their own site to make others feel ignorant about themselves. So now that you've made up your mind to go ahead, this is where you will find that this is the easiest part of setting up your own online bookstore. This is because there is now a free flash template available from a lot of different web companies that you can use for free to set up your store.
Maybe the reason you haven't set up your own store is because you don't understand computer coding. This is understandable; because if you love antique books, for example, there won't be much in the way about computers in them. As you have probably looked at other booksellers' sites, you can see that flash coding (the coding used to create the graphics for online catalogs and other graphics) looks difficult to learn. That's because it is. In fact, it's some of the hardest and time consuming computer coding to execute.
That is why many hosting companies now will provide you with a free or low cost flash template for your online store. The only thing that you have to do with this template is download it and then insert your graphics and text. The only computer skills you need are being able to drag and drop. It's sound like a dating site, but there is really much more.
Usually the web development companies that offer the free templates also offer free hosting. The only thing that you have to pay for is the domain name, which is about the cost of the paperback copy of "Twilight". As well, there are many different booksellers' templates to choose from. So it doesn't matter whether you specialize in collectibles, comic books, children books, science fiction, romance or even adult materials; there will be a template that will work for you.
Also, because each flash template is designed specifically for booksellers, there will be places to display new arrivals, and you can catalog the books into sections like hardback, paperback, first edition, etc; and change them as often as you like.
If you like books, you may be a librarian, or you may just collect them. If you really like books, you may be one of those eccentric book people who opens a bookstore and calls it something clever like "Buy The Book" - just like Ellen DeGeneres did on her wacky sitcom in the '90's. You probably won't go that far, but you may be interested in selling your books on the Internet. You may have tried eBay with some results, but wouldn't you rather have your own website and call it something clever? If you do, then you will need a website built on a flash template.
Is Your Computer Internet Slow? Six Steps to Clear Slow Surfing Problems
In most cases slow computer problems and computer internet slow downs are related. There are several factors that can cause such issues and chances are good that there is not one single solution to fix the entire problem (usually).
The steps to follow will guide you in taking the steps that will have the largest positive affect on speeding up your PC.
Before proceeding to the steps below, make sure that you are not on an antiquated internet service (like many dial up services) as computer internet slow downs will take place no matter how many other actions you take. Many issues can be solved by spending a few extra dollars and upgrading your Internet Service Provider. If your decision is to save money over speed, there is a good chance that you will be able to make your surfing speeds much faster. It may still be worth it to try the steps below as many will do more than just fix computer internet slow downs.
Step One: Download and Use a Free Scan Feature in Top Registry Repair Software
One of the top reasons for slow computer problems is due to a bloated Windows registry. The registry houses vital files and keys that support your Windows operating system (including user preferences). Each time you add or remove programs, the registry is impacted and can get weighed down. This causes response delays, slow operations, problems adding new software, and a handful of other issues.
The best registry cleaner products offer a free scan before having to purchase the full version for repair (if errors are found). It is a good idea to keep a solid registry cleaner on your system as part of your annual computer maintenance plan.
Step Two: Use an Effective Spyware Program to Detect and Remove Threats.
There is a dual focus to take during this step. It is vital to keep spyware, malware, adware, and Trojan viruses off your computer to protect your files and keep your system operating efficiently. For this reason, it pays to keep quality software on your system all year long.
The negative side of the equation is that spyware products can eat up a ton of space on your PC and slow your computer down even more. What I do is install the program, fix any threats detected, and then remove the software so my computer is not impacted.
Step Three: Reset Your Wireless and Broadband Modem (unplug for at least 30 seconds)
Step Four: Remove the History and Temporary Files off Your Browser by going to Settings > Internet Options.
Step Five: Utilize Free Resources in Windows to Free Hard Drive Space.
Go to Start > Accessories > System Tools > choose Disk Cleanup, and then Disk Defrag, then create a restore point in the same area. Do not complete the full restore.
Step Six: Eliminate Unused Programs from Your PC
Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > then select software to eliminate that will not be used any time soon.
Additional Hints to Rid of Computer Internet Slow Downs
- Be sure your internet connections are solid. If utilizing a DSL type service, make sure that cabling is up to standard.
- Many internet service providers offer a free connection speed test. Contact your provider about how to conduct this process. Do multiple tests and get a median score.
- If you are not on partition speed internet, avoid times that many users are on the servers and see if that makes a difference.
- Increase your plan through your internet service provider. In most areas, there are multiple services available if you cannot get a better product from your current provider.
- If you have tried everything in this article and still are failing to get results, do a full system restore back to factory condition to start fresh. Only reinstall integral software that you actually use to avoid weighing down the system.
- Be sure to add a firewall so that you are in control of the programs that can access the net (and the other way around).
- If your actual computer hardware is outdated, there has never been a less expensive time to purchase some new equipment.
The prior steps should clear the majority of the computer internet slow downs that you encounter.

Where can I find history or information on an antique silver hair brush from 1904?
I went to a flea market today and a gentleman who was selling computer things gave me a silver antique hair brush, and the only thing on the hair brush it said was "Quadruple Plate Pat June 14, 1904". It also has a beautiful flower design on it. Where could I find more information on the history of it?
Quadtriple plate means it is heavy silver plate. The Patent date simply means it was registered on that date at the Patent Office in Washington, DC. There are many books out on Silver and Silver plate items. Some have makers marks and some don't. Value will to a great degree depend on condition. A set in its original box will of course be more valuable but how often do you find that! My suggestion would be to check your local library for any info you can find on it and then decide if you plan to keep it or sell it. If you are going to sell then look in the local shops to see what they are selling for and then online for the same. This will help you to see condition and selling price averages in your area and across the web.
