Many people think that paintball is a game where you just go all out and attack and maybe do a bit of defending. They are right in a sense. Paintball is a game for attack and defence but one of the main keys of paintballing is stealth. Stealth implemented into your attacking or defensive tactics can help you win the game easier than if you were going to go all out on offense. By playing smarter in the field you are sure to win the game. In this article discover how stealth an important combat tactics for paintball and how it can help you win a game of paintball.
What is stealth?
Stealth is the ability to become invisible; blending into your surroundings, not making any sound. There are many ways to pull of the stealth tactic:
· Movement - Movement is important for stealth. Stealth is about being invisible. This means moving slowly and using the environment which means crouching in the grass or hiding behind trees. There will be times you will have to make a dash, in these circumstances keep low and avoid running on twigs. Twigs make noise when stood on as they snap. If you have to go through twigs take your time and try distributing your weight. When making a dash you need to make sure you can see your surroundings otherwise you my run into an ambush.
· Clothing - Wearing bright red clothes will get you noticed easily. You need to wear something that will blend into your surrounding area. If you are playing woodland area then you need to wear dull clothing (like the military brown and green). Shoes can also play an important part to stealth. Some shoes will make more noise than other, you need to wear a pair that has soft soles. Also make sure they are shoes you can run in, you don't want to be cornered because you are wearing uncomfortable shoes.
How To Use Stealth Against The Enemy
So now you know what is needed you are ready to use the tactic against your opposition. You can use stealth the following ways:
· Ambush - The favourite stealth tactic and also the hardest. The basics of an ambush are that you and some of your teammates to sneak up on a group of your opposition and surround them. Once you surround them you can break your stealth cover and shoot them. You can also get a group of your team to attract a group of the other team (maybe by letting of a few shots) . The other team will start coming towards your team which is when you spring the trap (you and some of your opposition will be hiding in the area).
· Sneaking behind players - This is a hard tactic to pull off. You need to sneak up behind a player quietly (check your surroundings at the same tie to make sure you aren't walking into an ambush.
· Capture the flag - This is a great tactic for winning a game of capture the flag. Get half of you team to attract the enemy away from their camp (this half of your opposition doesn't have to be in "stealth mode"). The remainder of your team will use stealth and shoot down any remaining opposition.
Stealth takes time to perfect but if you can use it with your combat tactics for paintball (attack and defence) you can win the game easily.

Getting Into The Game: An Introduction To Paintball
Paintball is a highly active and addictive sport that many individuals are becoming more and more involved with. Unlike many other sports where being tall as an oak or strong as an ox gives you a huge advantage, in paintball the playing field is much more evenly spread. While the most common courses are outside, there are also inside paintball courses, as well. In a game of paintball, there are almost always two teams that are evenly divided. Each player gets a paint gun and then the two teams play-often the old childhood game of capture the flag is a perfect scenario for a game of paintball.
The game of paintball itself is simple. Your team needs to guard your flag while trying to capture your opponent's flag. Instead of tagging each other, you shoot with the paintball guns. If you are hit with a paintball and it breaks, then you are eliminated. There will be referees to call you as at or still in. The paintball does have to splat. If it hits you and doesn't break for whatever reason, you're still in the game. The paintballs are approximately marble sized with a hard shell on the outside and soft paint in the middle (think of how M&Ms are advertised). The outside shell allows the paint to travel much longer distances, which allows for a much more enjoyable and challenging game. Most players will get hit a few times in a day. While there is a slight sting that might cause a minor red mark, the paint balls really do not hurt and are far, FAR safer and less painful than getting hit by a bb or pellet gun. Paintball gives the excitement of a combat game without any of the danger.
In paintball there are some mistakes that beginners commonly make, which is nothing to be ashamed of, but here are some tips to help out. The first rule, the golden rule, in fact, of paintball is this: NEVER take off your protective mask. The only danger from a paintball game is if you take off your goggles and get shot in the eye. Never remove your facial protection unless you are off the field in a specifically designated area.
Beyond that obvious safety tip, here are several helpful tips that you should know before you go to a paintball game for the first time:
Wear darker clothes, don't wear white. White is too bright, you will get killed.
Wear some type of comfortable footwear. Preferably boot or comfortable shoes, something that you don't mind wearing in the woods.
Good sportsmanship: always be honest. If you get splat and the ref doesn't see, raise your hand for all to see and walk off. This is a sport where players are very open to newbies, but also very competitive: and they don't like cheaters.
Avoid tunnel vision. It is so easy to get focused on what's straight ahead that many beginning players get shot from the side without even realizing they're getting flanked.
Paintball is a great sport, and highly addictive. Learn the basics, and then go out and enjoy yourself. That's the most important aspect of a paintball game!
